Driver Crashes £250,000 Lamborghini Supercar Then 'Tells Onlookers He'd Just Go Out and Buy Another One Tomorrow'

A driver who crashed his £250,000 Lamborghini into a tree, causing one of the supercar's wheels to fly off, reportedly laughed as he told onlookers he would go out to buy a new one.
Martin Johnson, 46, was walking his granddaughter Charly Pennett, aged nine, home from school, when one of the wheels flew past them in Beaumont Leys in Leicestershire - narrowly missing the pair.
The Lamborghini Gallardo, which can reach 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds, hit a tree before careering into the middle of the road and smashing into a bollard - just metres from Buswell's Lodge Primary School.

A Lamborghini Gallardo, which can reach 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds, hit a tree before careering into the middle of the road and smashing into a bollard in Beaumont Leys in Leicestershire. A back wheel was completely ripped off an axle of the car and flew along the street, narrowly missing Martin Johnson and his nine-year-old granddaughter Charly Pennett.

Remarkably the driver, thought to be a young Asian man, walked away from the horror crash completely unscathed and was reported to have even 'laughed off' the crash telling onlookers it was ok because he'd 'buy another one tomorrow'.
The 5.2litre car was left badly damaged by the crash, with the back left wheel of the 550 horse power vehicle completely ripped from its axle.

Mr Johnson, of Humberstone, Leicester, said a large wheel came bouncing through the air narrowly missing him and his granddaughter last Thursday.
He said: 'We were lucky really because the large wheel came bouncing through the air at about chest height barely 10 feet away.

'Imagine if it would have hit a child, if we were there just a couple of minutes earlier it could have been a different story.
'I was quite angry at the time because I was walking my granddaughter home after picking her up from after school activities.
'As we came to the main road we heard a throaty roar which made us turn our heads and that's when we saw this exotic orange coloured sports car come around the corner at speed.
'The driver seemed to lose control after he came off the roundabout causing him to spin the car around a couple of times and hit a nearby tree.

'As the car hit the tree one of the back wheels came off, narrowly missing us by about 10 feet.
'This was a massive wheel that could have done some serious damage.
'The kids were very very scared, but when the driver got out he was laughing and after a while started to boast that he would "just go out and buy another one tomorrow." I think we were very lucky that day.'
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: 'Police received a call to a report of single vehicle road traffic collision on Strasbourg Drive.
'The vehicle involved was an orange Lamborghini Gallardo which collided with a bollard.
'There were no injuries for the driver and the road was closed at junction with Krefield Way and Heachem Drive while the vehicle was recovered.
'We have concluded our enquiries and there have been no arrests.'
