#SaveMayowa: Family Member Sets Record Straight About Scam Allegations In Emotional Video

The #SaveMayowa saga continues…
Earlier today we brought you shocking reports about claims being made that the N32 Million fundraising efforts for Stage IV ovarian cancer patient Mayowa Ahmed was allegedly staged by the family.

We also told you about how actress Toyin Aimakhu who was the first celebrity to be linked to cause, said Mayowa’s medical report was fake. We also informed you that the bank account which held the N85M raised had been frozen and her family had denied the scam allegations made by blogger, Linda Ikeji.

In the latest development a member of Mayowa’s family, Habib Olufoye who is her cousin is not only denying the scam claim but has recorded an emotional video thanking everyone that donated and addressing all questions raised about Mayowa’s illness, treatment & the donations.

And here is some of what he said,
  • Prior to the online call for funds the Ahmed family had already spent N10M.
  • They were not aware about the video of Mayowa requesting for help. 28 year old Mayowa posted the video on instagram calling for financial aid without the knowledge of her family.
  • All funds raised will be used for Mayowa’s treatment and nothing else. They are holding on to hope that a cute can be found even though it’s stage IV cancer.
  • The Ahmed family is seeking a trustee to manage the funds so they do not have any access to the funds.
  • As I told you in the previous post rather than seeking surgery in Atlanta as initially stated, the family have now opted for treatment at NMC Abu Dhabi. This they say is because of her weak condition and she was advised medically not to fly all the way to the US because of the distance.
  • Right now they are waiting on her visa.
  • They will keep updating Nigerians on the status of her treatment and health.

Her sister was also approached by Pulse TV and she said,
I don’t know why Toyin Aimakhu and Linda Ikeji are saying we are scamming Nigerians. It is a lie. No doctor ever told us my sister cannot survive this. They only told us to try outside the country
