Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu was on Tuesday granted bail after a magistrate rejected an application by the prosecution seeking to have him held in custody until the end of his trial.
Nairobi Chief Magistrate Kiarie Waweru granted Mr Chinedu a cash bail of Ksh 200,000 or a surety bond of Ksh 500,000 pending hearing on May 6th.
The controversial businessman was charged for being in Kenya illegally and for forging a Nigerian passport.
He also faces a charge of being found in possession of an apparatus believed to be used in narcotic drugs business and for refusing to let Police to search his residence. (READ: Nigerian Chinedu slapped with new charges/
Mr Chinedu was arrested on April 13th at his upmarket Kileleshwa residence.
