Security agents prevented the former Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from leaving Nigeria on Saturday, Per Second News gathered.
His passport was reportedly seized by officers who claimed to be acting on directives from above.
It is believed that the former CBN boss was travelling to Saudi for Lesser Hajj.
According a close associate of the former governor, “This is the latest in a series of recent moves against those perceived to be enemies of government, and clearly you can see that it undescores the contradiction between the government’s professes commitment to the rule of law.
"This kind of restriction of the freedom of person has absolutely no legal basis," he concluded.
