Four children and two adults are dead after a shooting Wednesday night
at a suburban Houston home. Harris County Precinct 4 Assistant Chief
Deputy Constable Mark Herman says the shooting happened in the 700 block
of Leaflet in the Spring area and apparently arose from a breakup in
the family who lived in the house. The suspect, a male, was finally
arrested around 10 p.m. local time after a three hour stand-off with
police, pictured right. SWAT vehicles rammed the car he was sitting in
after he drove into a cul-de-sac, pictured left, following a 30 minute
car chase.
A father
shot dead four of his children, a man and a woman who were with them and
critically injured his 15-year-old daughter, during an apparent jealous
rage Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The
stricken teenager was able to call 911 and later warned deputies that
her father planned to go to her grandparents' home to kill them, said
Deputy Thomas Gilliland of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Ron
Lee Haskell, 33, the suspected gunman eventually surrendered sank to
his knees and surrendered after a tense three-hour standoff with
deputies who had cornered him in a nearby cul-de-sac.

'It
appears this stems from a domestic issue with a breakup in the family
from what our witness has told us,' Assistant Chief Deputy Constable
Mark Herman of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office told
reporters. He did not explain further.
