The Deputy Governor of Lagos State has confirmed 6 people have been rescued from the scene of the helicopter crash. Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident .
The National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian Police carried out rescue operations and it was learnt that 3 out of the 12 people onboard died in the lagoon helicopter crash, while the other 9 were taken to the nearby Gbagada General Hospital.
An eyewitness said the aircraft marked 5NBGD was said to be coming from one of the oil rigs in Escravos area of the Niger Delta and was said to be heading for Lagos Island when it went down around 3 p.m.
