Contrary to his earlier claim that he has resigned from active politics in Nigeria, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has eaten own vomit this afternoon when he got himself registered in Abeokuta, Ogun State as a member of Coalition for Nigeria, a Movement he is championing to become a full-fledged political party.
Recall the former President has claimed he would never go back to PDP, arguing that he has bid farewell to partisan politics when the Caretaker Chairman of the party Senator Ahmed Markafi paid him a courtesy visit at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital on Tuesday 17th October 2017.
Also, Obasanjo in a widely criticized and lauded letter to President Muhammadu Buhari proposed a third force, which he christened Coalition for Nigeria that will wrest power from the incumbent.
The group was launched at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, yesterday January 31st.
Obasanjo in his letter to President Buhari said Nigeria is in dire need of a new political group. The former president opined that neither the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) nor the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could give Nigeria the leadership it deserves.
Former Cross Rivers state governor, Donald Duke who has since indicated interest to run for president in 2019, is a member of the Coalition movement. There are speculations that the group will present Duke as their presidential candidate in 2019.
Has Baba not returned to active politics against his earlier avowal? Can Baba be trusted? These are but few question begging for answers by Nigerians.
