President Donald Trump has praised the 'amazing' Coast Guard sailors after dramatic footage showed them jumping on to a moving submarine in the Pacific ocean to stop drug traffickers carrying cocaine.
The semi-submersible pounded through deep Eastern Pacific waters filled with thousands of pounds of cocaine on board, according to The Washington Post.
It was ultimately bound for the United States, as the vessel had been tracked by a Coast Guard surveillance aircraft.
Trump tweeted Thursday imploring his followers to watch the footage.
He wrote: 'Do you believe this kind of bravery? Amazing drug seizure. WATCH!'
And vice president Mike Pence was on hand Thursday as a total of 39,000 pounds of cocaine and 933 pounds of marijuana were taken off the cutter Munro at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado.
He told service members: 'Make no mistake about it, Coasties, your courageous service is saving American lives.
'You truly are gallantry in action. Let’s hear it for the men and women of the United States Coast Guard Cutter Munro. Job well done.'
