The Andes Accident - Real Life Survival Story Of Crash Victims Forced To Feed Themselves On Their Dead Partners To Survive.

On Friday 13th October of 1972, an Uruguayan plane, which was carrying 45 passengers to Chile, most of whom were students and rugby players, crashed in the Andes Mountains.

Twelve of the people died in the crash. The survivors not only had to withstand the hunger and the fearful Mountains, but also 30 degree-below-zero temperatures during the night.

They tried to survive with the scarce food reserves they had until being rescued, but they lost their hope when heard that the search had ceased on the radio.

Desperate owing to the lack of food and physically exhausted, they were forced to feed themselves on their death partners to keep on living. Finally fed up with the extremely low temperatures and the avalanche threats, as well as anguished by the continuos deaths of their partners and the bad rescue prospects, two of them decided to cross the huge mountains to reach Chile.

In January, 54 year-old Howard Snitzer suffered a heart attack outside of a grocery store in Goodhue, Minn. Luckily, two first responders were across the street and quickly began CPR. Before long, a large group of rescuers, including a helicopter and team from the Mayo Clinic, arrived to help. Finally, after 12 defibrillation shocks, antiarrhythmic drugs and more than an hour and a half of continuous resuscitation, Snitzer's pulse returned. It had been 96 minutes since he had collapsed.

Generally, if a victim's pulse has not started after 45 minutes of CPR, resuscitation is discontinued.

Yu Youzhen, a millionaire from Wuhan City, China, has been making headlines recently, after it was discovered she works as a street cleaner, for a 1,420 yuan monthly salary, in order to set a positive example for her two children.

Jan Grzebski - The Man Who Slept For 19 Years.

During the 1980’s, Poland was still run by a Communist regime. It was a terrible period of despair, great poverty and confusion.

Polish railway worker Jan Grzebski, suffered a severe head injury while attaching two train carriages. He was rushed to the hospital, but the doctors had even more devastating news for the family: besides the injuries caused by the work-related accident, Jan Grzebski was suffering from brain cancer. He fell into a deep coma of 19 years. Doctors didn’t expect him to live longer than three years.

 His family had faith that Jan would recover and his wife Gertruda provided the loving care Jan needed to survive. The amazing part of this story is that Mr. Grzebski awoke on April, 12, 2007 after 19 years of coma. He awoke to a world of democracy and capitalism. Mr. Grzebski was surprised to find out that 18 years had passed since the fall of Communism and that 11 grandchildren couldn’t wait to hug him.

Fauja Singh, 100, finished Toronto’s waterfront marathon Sunday evening, securing his place in Guinness World Records as the oldest person — and the first centenarian — to ever accomplish a run of that distance.

Singh, a British citizen, was the last person to complete the race, crossing the finish line just before 6 p.m. ET with a time of 8 hours, 11minutes and 5.9 seconds

Who is this remarkable man??

Singh, affectionately known as the Turbaned Tornado, was born on a farm in India in April 1911. He stands five foot eight inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds.

Part of his secret, according to his coach, is that he eats a light diet of mainly tea, toast and curry.

The centenarian turned to running after losing his wife and child to “tragic circumstances” about 20 years ago. His coach said the runner didn’t want to discuss those tragic circumstances. Part of his outlook is maintaining a constant focus on the positive.

The man, named only as Miguel, swung onto one of high-voltage cables causing a massive explosion before plummeting  to the ground in Santiago, Chile.

 The presidency has paid nearly N1billion to the family of late President Umaru Yar'Adua, according to an official memo

The slush funds were routed through the Katsina state government, the home state of the former president.

The payment includes about N150 million to Mrs. Turai Yar'adua, as well as the late president's aged mother, his married daughters, and sons.

It is yet unclear if any provision was made for his second wife, Hauwa Umar Radda, whom the late president divorced in 1997, shortly before he became the governor of Katsina state.
