Homeless Man Curtis Jackson Donates Money To Help Out-Of-Work Mother

When a single mother in Chicago lost her job, she had no idea a homeless man she used to help would offer her a lifeline.

My Fox Chicago reports that when the woman, who would like to remain anonymous, lost her home, she and her son began living in their car.

After being warned by police that her son would be taken from her if she couldn't find a safer environment for him, she relocated the family into a hotel room. She wondered how she would pay the bill.

That's where Curtis Jackson, local homeless man, came in. The pair had crossed paths frequently in the past. Jackson recalled the generosity and kindness with which the young mother treated him.

Now, Jackson is helping the mother and son by donating the change he makes from panhandling to pay their hotel bill.

A 46-year-old Pastor, Olamide Sobowale, of Glory Church of Christ Aladura, Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State,  has been ordered to be remanded in prison for allegedly raping a woman while bathing in his church backyard.

Pastor Sobowale, who  was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, yesterday, was accused of  raping one Dupe Makinde, 30, who lives in Isaje, Abeokuta, while taking a spiritual bath  allegedly  recommended by the pastor.

Nigeria’s longest running soap opera, Tinsel aired its one thousandth episode, a landmark achievement never before accomplished by any other TV soap in Nigeria. Producers of the show MNET Africa celebrated their milestone success by staging a ‘Tinsel 1000th premiere’ event at Eko Hotels and Suites with its cast and a large number of other actors and entertainers attending.

Aralolu ‘Ara’ Olamuyiwa has finally explained why her 3-year old marriage packed up.

In a recent interview with Encomium Weekly the entertainer alleges that her ex-husband was married to two other women while she was with him.

‘I didn’t really know that he was legally married to two other women. One of them called me and sent me her marriage certificate. We called each other and agreed to annul it where we got married.’

Ara and ex-husband Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu got married  on June 4, 2009 at the Oshodi/Isolo registry in Lagos.

The drummer in July 2011 announced their separation and decided to annul their marriage at a Lagos Local Government Registry.

The couple have a son, Ire.

Zimbabwean Jailed 120-yrs In US For Spreading HIV

A ZIMBABWEAN man living illegally in the US has been sentenced to 120 years in prison for knowingly infecting four West Texas women with the HIV virus.

Derick Nhekairo was convicted after pleading guilty to multiple charges that included aggravated assault.

Judge Rodney Satterwhite sentenced Nhekairo to serve two consecutive 60-year sentences for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, with the remaining two sentences of 60 years and 20 years to run concurrently with the 120 years.
He is also required to pay $32,000 in fines for the four charges.

Midland County prosecutor Laura Nodolf said Nhekairo moved to the United States in 2000 and remained after his student visa expired.

She said he slept with 18 women and told none them that he carried the virus that causes AIDS and insisted that it was important to prosecute him because many people do not know that is a crime to knowingly transmit HIV to other sexual partners.

“The victims of this type of crime are underrepresented and don’t always know their options,” She said. “If you report it, we can prosecute it.”

Nhekairo was arrested in July 2012 after one of the women contacted authorities.
He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, but changed his plea to guilty in the four cases after testimony began.

Iconic photographer, Peter Oyeyemi Obe, who brought the swampy gloom of the Nigerian civil war horror to public reality via his troubling and tense images, has passed on. He was 81, born 28 December 1932.

News of Mr. Obe’s passage came mid-day Sunday when his nephew, Taiwo Obe, the renowned editor and promoter of the famous professional social media site on LinkedIn, Everythingjournalism, tweeted, quoting family sources, that the ace cameraman had “died at his residence situated on 31 Alhaji Masha/Moronu Street, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria” adding,  “His first son, Femi, made the official announcement.”

The departed Mr. Obe influenced a whole generation of photojournalists on account of his adventurous and daring coverage of the 30-month Nigerian civil war in the seventies.  A different genre of much younger professionals, not necessarily practicing in journalism, was also drawn by this iconoclasm, nurtured by a peculiar drive for intimacy with his subjects that were vividly realised through close-up, and wide-angle shots. Although his war photography was his signature call, he nevertheless worked across a varied landscape of photojournalism, from conflict coverage, through politics and civic life, to sports.

African Women Abroad Seriously Seeking Husbands

Why are many African women abroad now seriously looking for husbands or serious partners? Why are they single in the first place? What kind of men are they looking for? How do they feel being single? Etc. To understand and unlock these and other puzzling questions, Emmanuel Sarpong Owusu-Ansah, a lecturer and an investigative journalist in London, conducted a survey on 244 African women, married and unmarried, aged between 21 and 40 in England, UK.

Quite disappointingly, only 150 out of the 244 women approached did respond to the initial questions. 25 out of the 150 initial respondents, then willingly and confidently provided profound information on single African women abroad.

Of the 25 women who agreed to be intensively interviewed, 15 were single, 5 were in serious relationships, and 5 were married. They were from Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. The term ‘single’ or ‘unattached’ as the respondents explain, does not necessarily mean living without sex. It only refers to people who are not married or who do not have “serious” partners.

14-Year-Old Gives Birth To Triplets [Photos+Video]

A teenager has given birth to triplets in Bungoma County.

Fourteen-year-old Mwanaharabu Wamukoya of Harambee village in Kakamega County was admitted to Bungoma District Hospital on Saturday evening and had a Caesarean Section on Sunday to deliver the three baby boys.

Two of the new-borns weighed 1.5 kilogrammes while the third one weighed 1.3 kilogrammes.

Nursing officer-in-charge Mary Marumbu said the babies and their mother were in stable condition and ready to be discharged.

PDP’S BREAK-UP: OBASANJO INTERVENES, MEETS JONATHAN [Photos]

FORMER president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has intervened in the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has appealed to all aggrieved members of the party to sheathe their swords in its interest.

The former chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, in a statement personally signed by him and made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday evening, said the outcome of the mini convention of the party held on Saturday had become source of concern to all well-meaning members.

Obasanjo noted that elders of the party would intensify effort in its reconciliatory move to ensure that the party did not lose its winning position in the country.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the former president met with some major stakeholders of the party at his Hilltop residence, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, shortly after he returned from Abuja, where he had gone to visit President Goodluck Jonathan.
