Ota Benga - The horrifying story of a human on display in a zoo.

Ota Benga (circa 1883– March 20, 1916) was a Congolese pygmy known for being featured in an anthropology exhibit at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904, and in a controversial human zoo exhibit in 1906 at the Bronx Zoo. Benga had been freed from African slave traders by the missionary Samuel Phillips Verner, a businessman recruiting Africans for the Exposition. He traveled with Verner to the United States. At the Bronx Zoo, Benga had free run of the grounds before and after he was "exhibited" in the zoo's Monkey House.

A monster truck that drove off course and into an audience at a show in Mexico yesterday has killed 13 and injured more than 70. 

The incident happened at the 'Extreme Aeroshow' in Chihuahua, Mexico yesterday.

The monster truck was leaping over a pile of cars when the driver seemed to lose control of vehicle and it drove straight into the audience attempting to flee.

One can only imagine the pain this 7-year-old Tanzanian boy is going through,  Rajab Suleiman, a resident of Ukonga, he is in agony after one of his legs gets swollen like a car tyre.
Speaking to newsmen with great sadness, the young man said that he remembers that he was born with a little disability under his feet which made walking difficult but little did he know, ‘half bread is better than none’. Rajab can no longer walk but creep since his right leg has become so swollen and feeble.

Nigeria detectives in Obosi, Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State are now battling to unravel the circumstances in which Chekwube Mbaka, an 18-year-old girl left her father’s house to buy N100 garri to serve as dinner for her family but never returned alive.
The victim was allegedly gang-r*ped by eight coffin makers in an uncompleted building at Odume-layout in Obosi, Idemili North council area of Anambra State Nigeria.
Chekwube, whose family hails from Ogboji community in Ezzagu, Ishielu council area of Anambra State, met her untimely death on the fateful day when she was on her way back from where she had gone to buy garri for the family.

One of the best quotes by Nick Vujicic, a motivational speaker who was born with a rare disorder characterized by absence of all four limbs, goes like this: “For every disability you have, you are blessed with more than enough abilities to overcome your challenges.” This couldn’t be more true for Michael “Mike” Timble, a 27-year-old from Pittsburgh, who was born without arms, but has bravely refused to succumb to his disability. Since no obstacle was too great to overcome for this young man, Michael set out to get himself a bicycle. If he could graduate political science from Duquesne University, he could sure find a custom-made bicycle for himself.

Michael was born in the former USSR (Ukraine), in the Chernobyl area, with birth defects as a result of the 1986 nuclear devastation there. After spending nearly nine years in a local orphanage, Mike was adopted by a family from Pittsburgh. The first time he rode a bike was in boarding school when his gym teacher replaced the bike’s handlebars with a metal pipe reaching out to one of Mike’s stumps.

Last year, Mike bought a single-speed bicycle and started searching for someone to customize it and this didn’t go smoothly!
Mike was either viewed as a liability or refused on the grounds that it was impossible to customize the bicycle to his specification. That was until one of Mike’s friends – Tim Rhodes – stumbled across Michael Brown from Maestro Frameworks. “It never even crossed my mind that it could not be done,” Mr. Brown said. “Especially after I talked to Mike, he was so gung-ho about riding a bike again.”

Saheed Osupa Debunks Swollen Stomach Tale

Popular Fuji star, Dr Saheed Osupa, fondly called Saridon Pee, has debunked rumour making the rounds that he is ill. A national newspaper had published a story few days ago that the talented Fuji lyricist was allegedly suffering from a swollen stomach.

In a statement made available through his media representative, Ola Media Concept, the singer said nothing of such happened to him.

Saheed Osupa said in the statement that, "it is not in my practice to respond to false stories written about me because I've discovered that most of the journalists that exist lately are mostly lazy and unprofessional in their reports."

He also also disclosed that, "I have to react to this because many of my fans home and abroad even my children abroad are worried and calling to know my well being."

He added that, "those who must have been following the trend will know that nothing is wrong with me as I performed last Saturday at Badagry and Ajegunle on Sunday both in Lagos."

He thanked his for for their support and prayers and hinted of the release of his new album, which will hit the stands on October 15, 2013.

There are so many things that are “biblical” but have nothing to do with the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is about God and his sons. The son of a king does not pay taxes to the king, his father. Sons of God don’t tithe. Tithe means giving ten per cent of your income to God. However, everything that sons of God have belongs to God. So tithing cannot apply to us.

He said 'There was this day I was travelling to Abuja to shoot a movie and I got into the aircraft and met this woman, she was older than my mother. As I made to put my bag in the overhead compartment, I greeted her but she didn't answer me. I just ignored her and sat down.

On arrival in Abuja, the woman was struggling to get her luggage from the compartment and I just stretched my hand and helped her to get it.

She asked for it without a thank you but I refused to give it to her, offering to help her take it down. On getting out of the aircraft, she again requested for her luggage but I said, madam I'll take it to the arrival hall for you and she looked at me with bewilderment.

Construction Starts On 12 Train Stations In Abuja Expected To Commute 700,000 Passengers On Light Rail Daily [Photos]

An estimated 700,000 passengers are projected to ride the Abuja light rail (ALR) daily when the first phase of the project takes off in 2015. FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed stated this on Tuesday during the flag-off of construction works on the 12 rail stations located along the first phase of the ALR project. He performed the flag-off ceremony jointly with the Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Smart Adeyemi and the FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide. The ground-breaking took place at site of the National Park Rail Station, Wuye District, Abuja.

FORMER Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, has said the death of his son, Deji, had created a big vacuum in his life as he has lost a political successor.

Addressing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who paid a condolence visit to his residence, the Afenifere chieftain said he had always looked at Deji as one who would take over from him.

Deji, who was the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ondo State, was among the people who died in the ill-fated aircraft belonging to Associated Airline on Thursday while bearing the corpse of the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Agagu from Lagos to Akure.
