As a way of instilling discipline in female staff of the Federal agency, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Rivers, Andrew Kumapayi, allegedly used scissors on the hair of some of the female staff of the agency, while carrying out a general inspection on staff of the FRSC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Relying on another whistle blower's tip -off, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recovered yet the sum of N250,558,670 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and seventy Naira) only, which is the parallel market naira value of the money recovered from a Bureau de Change operator in Balogun Market, Lagos today, April 10, 2017.

The recovery followed information that about N250 million cash was being moved somewhere in the market for conversion into foreign currency.

You bore a child after 13 years of marriage. How did you remain strong through the years?

It wasn’t an easy period but I had faith that one day, God would answer me. I tried to keep myself busy with counselling – I counselled people on various issues.  I also tried to go out frequently; I realised that whenever I stayed at home, I felt more saddened about my issue. It was a trying period; there were times people would not want me to hold their children. I was constantly abused and tormented with hurtful words.

Actor Idris Elba slammed the British government for cutting free housing benefits to young people aged 18 to 21.

The ‘Luther’ star gave an expletive-laden speech criticizing the cuts that stop out-of-work young adults from automatically receiving benefits which came into effect in April.

The 44-year-old Brit spoke out at a protest event organized by housing and homelessness charity Shelter at London’s Islington Assembly Hall in north London on Tuesday.

Nigerian Churches Are Encouraging Corruption – Ex-President Obasanjo

A former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that the activities of church leaders are contributing to the rampart cases of corruption across the country.

Speaking on Saturday at the convention of Victory Life Bible Church International in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Mr. Obasanjo said fighting corruption should not be a one-off affair because it would bounce back with vengeance.

“There is no doubt that all our institutions have been tarnished by the brush of corruption,” Mr. Obasanjo, a retired army general, said in his speech titled ‘The Role of the Church in the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria.”
