Lagos Commissions Ojodu Berger Pedestrian Bridge With Lay-Byes, Slip Road and Segregated Bus Park At Berger Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Newly built Pedestrian Bridge with construction of Lay-bys, Slip road and segregated bus park at Berger along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by the Lagos State Government will be commissioned tomorrow, 16/05/2017. The commissioning is part of the achievements to be displayed at the Lagos at 50 celebrations.

Beauty John, one of the 158 people deported from Libya last Thursday, has described her five months experience in the Libyan prison as the most horrible time of her life.

The 22-year-old lady, who hails from Edo State, said she embarked on the trip to Italy through the desert in search of greener pastures, only to discover that she was pregnant while in the prison, for not having the necessary documents to be in the country.

The general Aviation Terminal of the local wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport was submerged by a flood last Thursday.The tarmac was flooded as an Arik air flight WS 0640 was preparing to take off from Lagos to Owerri at 11 am on Thursday, May 11 2017.

A video sent to our correspondent indicated that an Arik Air flight, which earlier landed at the airport, could not easily board its passengers due to the heavy flood that resulted from an early morning rainfall in Lagos.

According to the baby’s mother, Layla Tsuda, the infant was playing near her baby walker when the incident occurred. NPA, Dangote, Flour Mills, Provide N4.5 Billion To Reconstruct Access Roads At Apapa Port

The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, said it would raise N4.3 billion to reconstruct access roads around Apapa Port as port operators withdrew services over poor infrastructure.

The Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Usman, told a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagoson Monday that NPA would provide N1.8 billion while Dangote Group and Flour Mills would provide N2.5 billion.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the NPA convened the stakeholders’ meeting to bring back operators who withdrew their services from the port.
“We have received proposal for Corporate Social Responsibility of N2.5 billion from Dangote Group and Flour Mills for the full reconstruction of port roads.
“The reconstruction entails full drainage service and the total cost of the Apapa port access roads project is N4.3 billion.

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, Appoints Omiyi As New Chairman

The Board of Directors of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, Monday appointed Mr. Basil Omiyi as the Chairman of the Board with effect from 15 May 2017  following the approval of all required regulatory bodies in the financial sector. 


Mr. Omiyi succeeds Mr. Atedo Peterside CON as the Chairman of the Board following Mr. Peterside’s resignation as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board on 31 March 2017. 

According to a statement from the bank, Mr. Basil Omiyi was appointed as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Company in March 2015. 

“He spent most of his career at Royal Dutch Shell in various roles both in Nigeria and Europe, including Head of Production Technology, Chief Petroleum Engineer, Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, and ultimately country Chairman of Shell Nigeria” the statement stated.

Lagos Today: Ikorodu Killings; Family In Trouble For Raising False Alarm (Graphic Photos)

Mr Fatai Owoseni, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, said on Saturday that the police were on the trail of a family which allegedly raised the false alarm that resulted in the killing  of four persons in Ikorodu.

Owoseni told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the family already declared wanted had a fight with another family over an undisclosed matter, stressing that it raised a false alarm that the victims were members of the notorious Badoo cult.

A 40-year old commercial bus driver, Suleman Lambe has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly impersonating the Nigerian police officer and uses the force uniform to rob customers withdrawing money at a bank in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect was arrested within the premises of FCMB Plc at Cele in Egbe suburbs of Lagos where he and his gang members position to monitor and rob customers coming to withdraw their money from the ATM point.

He was however apprehended when his gang reportedly disposed one Julius Olajire of N170,000 he withdrew from the bank.
