The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the position of Senate President in the ninth National Assembly,  Senator Ahmad Lawan, said on Saturday that 61 APC senators have agreed to vote for him on Tuesday as PDP senators including Ekweremadu, Abaribe, Dino Melaye and other notable senators met with Ahmed Lawan in a show of solidarity for a prosperous senate .

Lawan, who stated this after the list was read by the Secretary of his campaign organisation, Senator Barau Jibrin,  said only two out of the 63 APC senators-elect had yet to endorse him.

NASA has announced a plan to allow tourists to fly on the International Space Station starting next year. Up to two private astronaut missions will be allowed per year, each lasting 30 days at most. But, a trip to space won't come cheap - with life support systems and all necessary supplies considered, it will cost an eye-watering $35,000 per night. The announcement came as NASA unveiled its new business model on Friday, revealing a plan to incorporate more commercial and marketing opportunities 'both in low-Earth orbit and around the moon.'

President Barack Obama is speaking out about the use of so-called "deepfake" technology to create videos that appear to show him cursing and saying things he would not say - at least not publicly.

For the past 2 years, AI videos of Obama using inappropriate language have been circulated on the Internet. But Obama has not spoken out about the technology until now.

The former U.S. president told his concerns to an audience in Ottawa, Canada on Friday.

"People can duplicate me speaking and saying anything. And it sounds like me and it looks like I'm saying it — and it's a complete fabrication," Obama said.

Deepfake videos are a growing concern, particularly ahead of the presidential elections in 2020.

First of all, all praise to Almighty God, who gives power to whom he wills. The political victory came to Saraki in the past so easily that he forgot who he was. He became haughty and prideful. To the proud, the arrogant and the haughty, no one except God is powerful by himself or herself. Power is given, bestowed or granted and it must be kept in trust with reverence or it will be retrieved. APC Endorses Omo Agege As Deputy Senate President

The All Progressives Congress in the South-South has endorsed the Senator representing Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege, as the next Deputy Senate President.

The declaration confirmed a May 10 Punch report which stated that the national leadership of the party had settled for the senator and set machinery in motion for his emergence.

Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo North had also declared interest in the office. The APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, is from the same senatorial district.


The APC Vice-Chairman (South-South), Ntufam Hilliard Eta, and the Zonal Secretary, David Okumgba, in a statement made available on Saturday said the choice of Omo-Agege became imperative.

There was mild drama at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Glory Tabernacle parish, at Ijapo Estate in Akure, Ondo State capital, when Justice Oyebisi Folayemi Omoleye, a presiding judge of the Court of Appeal, confronted the church's parishioner over its noisy religious activities.  

According to a report by Saharareporters, Justice Omoleye, wielding a stick in her hand, invaded the RCCG Church, in company of her security guard and allegedly assaulted some of its worshipers on Wednesday and Felix Solomon, a pastor in the parish, Felicia Akindurojoye, an assistant pastor and some others were reportedly injured by Justice Omoleye during the attack.

Amaju Pinnick Set To Become CAF president

The president of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick is likely to become acting president of the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

This is following the arrest of CAF president Ahmad Ahmad in Paris today. He was arrested at his hotel on allegations of financial misappropriation.

CAF’s bylaws permit Amaju Pinnick, who is the first vice president, to assume CAF presidential duties for a transitional period of four months before convening an elective extraordinary meeting.

“If the President ceases exercising his functions on a permanent basis the first Vice President shall assume the presidency, and shall be obliged to convene an Extraordinary General Assembly, in accordance with these Statutes. The Extraordinary General Assembly shall elect a new President, within a period not exceeding four (4)
months from the time the office of President becomes conclusively vacant.”

9th Assembly: Ndume Predicts Danger, Apologizes To Dino Melaye

An aspirant for the President of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has warned that the independence of the Ninth National Assembly may be under threat.

He called on lawmakers to work to protect its independence to avoid turbulent sessions.

Ndume also singled out Senator Dino Melaye and apologised to him “if I offended you during my stay in the Eight Senate.”

Ndume, representing Borno South in the upper legislative chamber, noted that the only thing every parliament has going for it is its independence which it must guard zealously.

The lawmaker said this while contributing to the valedictory session to mark the end of legislative business for the Eight Senate on Thursday.
