Man Kidnapped And Murdered By Jealous Friend In Imo, Body Found In Anambra

A 21-year-old young man, identified as Micah Isaiah but also known as Leo Wire has reportedly been killed by his friend an ex-militant out of jealousy.

According to reports surrounding Isaiah’s death, he was murdered on May 12th around Willow Wood hotel in Owerri, Imo state’s capital.


Isaiah was reported to be close friends with his murderer —a supposed ex-militant— who hired some men to kidnap Isaiah after Isaiah acquired a Lexus SUV.

The Nigerian Military says 603 repentant Boko Haram terrorists who have been rehabilitated will be re-integrated into the society in June, as more fighters surrender.

The military also said 280 repentant terrorists, 25 of which were repatriated to the Niger Republic, have so far been re-integrated under the De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and Reintegration programme of Operation Safe Corridor.

Schools will throw a 'protective bubble' around young pupils, Gavin Williamson vowed today as he attempted to outflank furious teaching unions and reopen classrooms next month.

The Education Secretary attempted to pile pressure on opponents of his plans tonight  as he warned of the dire 'consequences if children did not start returning to school.

He made a blunt appeal to the emotions of parents tonight as he insisted planning can begin to reopen classrooms from in little more than a fortnight.

Outlining his plans for reception, year 1 and 6 - as well as years 10 and 12 - to return from June 1, he insisted 'they stand to lose more by staying away from school'.

He revealed that those who return, as well as their parents, will join teachers in being eligible for free coronavirus tests, as he outlined measures schools will take avoid a surge in the killer disease. 

Self-Employment Income Support Scheme opens for applications

The Government’s scheme to support the self-employed is now open for claims.

Self-employed individuals or members of partnerships whose business has been adversely affected by coronavirus are now able to apply for a Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant worth 80% of their average monthly trading profits.

Millions are expected to benefit from the scheme with the payments – to be paid in a single instalment covering three months and capped at £7,500 – expected to land in bank accounts within six working days of each claim.

Everyone eligible for the SEISS will be able to receive the government grant by 25 May, or within six days of a completed claim.

Free Bus Travel For Children Axed As Part Of TfL Bailout

The congestion charge is set to increase to £15 and operate seven days a week until 10pm after the Government bailed out TfL. Free travel for children is temporarily scrapped as is travel in the morning and evening rush hours to Freedom Pass holders.

The increase to 10pm is “temporary” and raises the question of whether a future candidate could promise to scale it back at elections in 2020.

Nigerian couple jailed for sexually and physically abusing a girl and a boy in the U.K

A Nigerian couple living in Rochdale, U.K., has been jailed for 15 years for a string of child abuse and sexual assault counts after appearing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court today (Friday 15 May), whilst a woman living at the same address has been jailed for four years for her role in the crimes.

In July 2018, police were made aware that a young girl had reported being abused by Shola Ogundare, 49, and Olwafunmilayo Emmanuel, 35.

An investigation was launched and officers established that the girl had been physically and sexually abused by Ogundare and physically abused by Emmanuel. Enquiries also established that a young boy had been physically abused by Ogundare and Emmanuel.

Ogundare and Emmanuel were arrested and taken into police custody for questioning. They were subsequently charged and pleaded not guilty.

UK-Based Nigerian Couple Die Ten Days Apart From #COVID-19 After She Contracted Deadly Disease While At Work

A Nigerian couple residing in the United Kingdom have died ten days apart after contracting the deadly Coronavirus.
Dr.James Oniah, a 79-year-old retired radiologist, died on April 24 after battling with the virus while his wife, 61-year-old Mary, who is a care home director, died on May 4. .

It is believed that Mrs Oniah contracted the virus during her job as a Regional Director for a care home provider before her 79-year-old husband was also struck down. They both died at King George Hospital in Ilford, East London.
One of the three children of the couple, Oke Oniah, told UK press that his family is still coming to terms with their tragic deaths.

Why Dead Fishes Were Found On Niger Delta Coastline - NOSDRA

The National Oil Spills Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) says findings on the dead fishes on the Atlantic coastline indicated high levels of toxicity caused by toxic wastes discharge.

The agency noted that the discharge of toxic materials into the Atlantic may have come from land as the wastes from domestic and industrial sources often empty into the water body.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that NOSDRA had on April 22 said it was coordinating a multi-agency investigation, aimed at unravelling the cause of the reported massive death of fishes within the nation’s territorial waters.

Idris Musa, Director-General of NOSDRA in a statement made available to NAN on Thursday, said the high toxicity of the dead fishes and water samples was caused by pollution from heavy metals from industrial and domestic wastes.

The babies were born to surrogate mothers in Ukraine and are due to be collected by parents from the US, UK, Europe and elsewhere.

But Ukraine, like many countries around the world, has closed its borders to foreigners in an effort to limit the spread of the coronavirus, which has killed more than 300,000 people globally.

Ukraine's borders have been closed to foreigners since March, leaving most of the parents to make do with seeing their babies in pictures and during video calls.

24 Girls Trafficked From Akwa-ibom For Prostitution Rescued In Lagos

Twenty-four girls who were trafficked from Akwa-Ibom State to Lagos, for prostitution, were rescued at Abbatoir, Agege area of the state, by the Police, Thursday.

Arrested, were four men suspected to have brought them.

The girls whose ages were between 13 and 22 years, lived in shanties, where their male customers patronized them. They revealed during interrogation that they collected N1,500 from their male customers but had to reduce the price because of the impact of the COVID-19.

Activities of the traffickers came to limelight, following a report of the disappearance of one of the girls, by her relatives in Akwa-Ibom state. It was gathered that during the investigation, she was traced to the shanties in Agege, where she was engaged as a commercial sex worker.

18-Year old Nigerian-American, Timi Adelakun Makes History In U.S With A Record-Setting 5.6 GPA.

The first black valedictorian of South Broward High School’s graduating class has a record-setting GPA.

“As of now, it’s a 5.6045,” said senior Timi Adelakun. “I think by graduation it’ll go a little bit higher, but that’s my number.”

The 18-year-old has earned the highest recorded GPA at the Hollywood school.

“It’s good, especially the history breaking part, that me being the first black valedictorian, and also me having the highest GPA in my school,” Adelakun said. “It’s good to know.”

Adelakun said his grades excelled early on in his life, and he kept them up ever since.

London Corona-Virus-Free In TWO WEEKS: Just 24 People A Day In The Capital Are Catching Coronavirus,

London is recording fewer than 24 new Covid-19 cases a day and could see the virus eradicated within weeks, according to new data.

Analysis by Public Health England and Cambridge University calculated that the 'R' reproduction rate has fallen to 0.4 in the capital, with the number of new cases halving every 3.5 days.

The figure shows the capital, once the worst-affected region of the country, is now ahead of every other area in recovering and could see all new cases eliminated by June.
