In what could be described as a record-breaking in Africa, a 67-year-old Nigerian woman, Mrs Ajibola Otunbusin was been delivered of a bouncing baby boy in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The sexagenarian woman and her husband, Professor Samuel Olu Otunbusin, were said to be overjoyed after their baby boy was delivered at Atoke Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
The elated mother thus broke all records not only as the oldest Nigerian woman to give birth through IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization), she also the oldest African in recorded history to give birth to a baby, and becoming the second oldest mum in the world.
Mrs. Otunbusin was said to have undergone the IVF procedure at the St Ives IVF & Fertility Center.
With her successful conception and delivery, she becomes the latest in a long line of women who have benefited from the St Ives IVF programme.
The joy on her face was unquantifiable. It shone through her body seamlessly like a river overflowing. She couldn’t hide it; of course, it wasn’t one that could be hidden.
