Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime Attends Son's Graduation in Scotland [Photos]

Enugu state Governor, Sullivan Chime, was in Scotland, yesterday to attend his second son's masters graduation from the University of Glasglow. Tochukwu Arinze Chime is Gov Chime's son with his first wife.

“The brief sexual relationship got me pregnant. When I checked my HIV status during my ante-natal registration, I was confirmed positive.”
Those were the words of Mrs. Grace Brume, 22-year-old HIV patient, expecting her second baby at the Amassoma General Hospital, Amassoma, Bayelsa State.
Grace is one of the HIV patients that are undergoing a special programme at the AGH christened, ‘Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission’.
The PMCT, an initiative of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS and other collaborating organisations, is meant to reduce the viral loads so that the transmission of mother-to-child is prevented.
Grace’s husband, Fyneface, has assumed the foster father of Grace’s first baby, PraiseGod, whose biological father, had since disappeared.
Our correspondent was on the entourage of NACA and the Bayelsa State Agency for the Control of AIDS which visited select general hospitals in the state, including AGH.
At AGH, our correspondent met Grace, who had hidden her HIV positive status from family members, including her husband, four years after.
PUNCH Metro had enquired from Grace how her husband, Fyneface, was treating her considering her challenge, she said, “I did not tell him that I am HIV positive. No one knows that I am HIV-positive except an aunt. Even my husband does not know. I have hidden my status from him since I tested positive.
“I would have told my husband, but the aunt said I should not. My aunt keeps encouraging me that those who have HIV will not die and that there are drugs they take to keep alive. Interestingly, my husband is negative.”

“I Didn’t Notice Anyone Was Running After My Car” Pasuma Releases Statement On Alleged Murder Case

Reacting to the report, Pasuma released a press statement a few hours ago, narrating his side of the story.

The statement reads thus:
“On October 24th I had a show somewhere around idimu and as usual there were quite a lot of people there. After my performance I made for my car after settling the area boys with a large sum of money. Definitely, I had to zoom off because I didn’t want them to mob me. I left the venue and drove straight to my house. Later that night, I heard someone was killed at the show. I was surprised because people don’t fight at my shows. It was later explained to me that the young man was killed by policemen. I tried to get details of the incident and that was when I gathered that one of the boys hung on to my car before I drove off.

He was said to have fallen off and started running after my car for reasons I don’t know. I didn’t even notice anyone was running after my car. Simultaneously, the policemen were driving fast behind me to get more money from me and in the process the boy was knocked down by their vehicle. When the policemen caught up with me, I gave them Money and they turned back. As at that time I was not even aware something had happened and I drove off.

A man believed to be in his late thirties was lynched yesterday after he attempted to rob an MTN sales point at gunpoint. He was in the company of two others during the robbery operation but he was not lucky, as he was grabbed by an angry mob and subsequently beaten and set on fire.

Twice tonight the entire Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos suffered massive power outages leading to disruptions in flight operations at the airport. The power outagest happened twice according to a journalist, Ahmed Salkida, who witnessed the blackout.

The first blackout which happened at 7:45pm lasted for two minutes. A second one, which is still ongoing, started at 8:06 PM.

VIDEO: LASTMA Official Caught On Tape Collecting Bribe

An official of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) has been caught red-handed demanding bribe from a motorist who is suspected to have broken the Lagos traffic law deliberately to expose corrupt law enforcement agents in the state.

The motorist, driving on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi, Lagos state, was stopped at the Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant junction, recorded an amateur video and sent it to the iWitness platform of Channels Television.

The yet-to-be identified LASTMA official accused the motorist of beating the traffic light.

As penalty, the motorist was charged the sum of N8,000 and was escorted to the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to withdraw the cash to settle the officer.

It will be recalled that a police officer, Chris Omeleze, caught on film soliciting for inducement by an unknown motorist was dismissed by the Nigerian Police Force.

The burial of the Ondo State commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Deji Falae, took place today in Akure the Ondo State capital.

Mr. Falae's burial was witnessed by his wife Mrs. Eseh Falae, his brother Barrister Deji Falae and his children, Wuraola, Ayorinde and Oreoluwa. The funeral service took place at the funeral service St David's Anglican Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure

Also in attendance was the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, his wife, Olukemi and the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Dare Emiola

A herb seller has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State police over the theft of a seven-month old baby boy -Feargod Edemekong.

The suspect, Ukat Aran, aka Dr. Job, was arrested in Afia Nsit Atai, Nsit Ibium Local Government Area of the state.

The mother of the baby, Mrs. Mfreke Edemekong, said on Tuesday in Uyo that Aran came to sell some herbal medicines to her husband’s uncle, Mr. Effiong Akpan, a day before her child was stolen.

Mfreke said, “Last Thursday, around 5am, a four-man gang broke into our house. One of them hit my husband, Ekong Edemekong, on the cheek with the butt of his gun.”

She said two of the gang members entered their room, while one stood outside with a gun ready to fire. She added that the last member was the driver.

She said the two members, who went inside the room, snatched Feargod, while pointing guns at her and her husband.

Deji Falae To Be Buried Today [Lagos Plane Crash Victim]

The second son of the former Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG), Chief Olu Falae, Ayodeji Olaniran, who died in the October 3 Associated Airline plane crash in Lagos will be buried today.

The burial is billed to take place at Saint David's Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

A statement on behalf of one of the in-laws and signed by Ikemefuna Akinjide Okafo, described the late Ondo State Commissioner as “an embodiment of humility, honesty and charming charisma.

CRISIS is brewing in the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as members from the Niger Delta, under the aegis of Global Peace Relief Initiative, led by Prophet Jones Erue, yesterday, faulted President of the association, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, over what they described as the unacceptable comments made against them, following their attempts to reconcile the G-7 governors with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a statement by Prophet Erue, the Niger Delta pastors described Oritsejafor’s comment to the effect that CAN was apolitical, as laughable, accusing the CAN President of getting involved in politics of calumny and name dropping.

They said that they might not be as rich as the CAN President or own a private jet, but were men of integrity.

The statement said: “We are disappointed that a leader could sit and watch his two children fight while the rest of us suffer only to come and blackmail those who take their time to seek solutions to the crisis.” They warned that no amount of blackmail or intimidation would deter them from the noble mission of rescuing the country from imminent collapse.

Nigerian Taiwo Jamani, who was attacked by a fellow countryman last month in Sword, Dublin has died from his injuries.

Taiwo, 45, suffered serious damage to his back-head as he was attacked by his known friend after an argument broke out in Swords, Dublin on 10 October this year.

Sources claimed their feud emanated from a botched business transaction almost one year prior to the attack. The two had met for the first time after they disengaged following the business feud. The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, took its membership drive to Minna, the Niger State capital, where it formally invited two former Nigerian leaders,Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) and Abdulsalami Abubakar, to join the party.

The opposition leaders met with Messrs Babangida and Abubakar separately in their residences during which they held closed-door discussions with them.

APC leaders on the delegation were its interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande; his deputy, Aminu Masari; and the National Woman Leader, Sharon Ikeaso.

Two national leaders of the party, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu, as well as a former Works Minister, Hassan Lawal, were also on the delegation.

Former MIC casket manager, Tunji Okusanya Jnr. who died with his dad and four of his staff in the ill-fated Associated Airlines aircraft, in Lagos weeks ago (HERE), is presently being buried.

A three-year-old girl was found dangling by her neck from a fourth floor window grill after her parents left her alone to go to work in China.

Firefighters were called when passerby heard Chyou Wang's cries after she became stuck by her head in the grill, which is designed to stop burglars.

The tearful girl was eventually freed by emergency services in the city of Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang after they broke into the flat.

Firefighters had to widen the bars while holding on to the girl before easing her free.

Her parents said she must have got bored or gone to look for them and somehow managed to open the window by herself.

Mark Parisi will appear on a reality TV show undergoing surgery to have a testicle removed and replaced with an artificial orb.

“What you do is you go in and you donate one of your testicles, they replace it with an artificial one and when you check out after 14 days you get a cheque for $35, 000,” he said.

I personally have mixed feeling about this one but i leave it to you guys to tell me what you think about the use of POS(Point Of Sale) in churches .According to a letter written to one of Nigeria's top blogger, Stella Dimorkorkus, a POS machine have been newly dedicated in a church (name withheld) to aid offering and tithe collection. They say the banks offered it to the church and since the world is going global, we should try and also fit in.
They say its to ease the stress of looking for change every sunday and for those who forget to even bring money to church. So all you have to do when you get to church is use your ATM card at the designated points, and collect your receipts! Its these receipts that you present at the alter as offering. Dear readers, what's your take on this because I can still see the looks of bewilderment on the congregations faces when the announcement was made!
