Officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, yesterday foiled an attempt by a 33-year-old mother of two, Fatima Balogun, to smuggle a phone to her armed robbery suspect boyfriend, Ganiyu Ajibode, who is in prison custody. Fatima hid the phone inside a cooler of soup he brought fro her boyfriend. She was apprehended by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS at the gate lodge of Abeokuta Maximum Prisons in Ibara.

A female prison official working with the Losperfontein Correctional Centre in Brits, South Africa,  committed suicide after intimate pictures of her and an inmate went viral on the Internet.

The incident happened on Monday, October 16, 2017, according to News24.

The Department of Correctional Services said in a statement that it was shocked and grieved by the Incident.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a prophet of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church and his accomplice for allegedly killing a woman for money-making rituals.

The prophet, Darasimi Rotimi and his accomplice, Ibikunle Sunday were paraded on Tuesday before newsmen at the state police headquarters Eleweran, Abeokuta, by the state commissioner of police Iliyasu Ahmed.

The suspects allegedly killed one Sara Olowokere at Ijoko, Sango and removed her body parts including head, wrist, heart, breast and private part for money-making rituals.

Ahmed told newsmen that the suspects killed her and “dissected her body before burying her remains at Alafia street, off Alagbole, Ijoko.

The second suspect, Sunday, a 40-year old Okada rider, confessed to our reporter that he killed the victim by hitting a plank of wood on her head.

An inmate in Kuje Prison, Abuja, Ifeanyi Ezenwa is in the news again over an alleged case of fraud. This time, police detectives obtained a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage where Ezenwa was seen shopping in a mall at central business district, Abuja, sometime in June 2017.

Saturday Sun had on April 15, 2017, published the story of Ifeanyi Ezenwa who is in Kuje Maximum Prison, Abuja, awaiting trial over series of fraud related cases. He was declared wanted by the police when several persons especially car dealers petitioned the police alleging that one Ezenwa bought cars from them and disappeared without paying.
