Vagina Artist Rokudenashiko Arrested In Japan For Distributing 3D Scans Of Genitals (PICTURES)

Megumi Igarashi, aka Rokudenashiko, arrested for emailing digital template of her genitalia to supporters of her art
A Japanese artist who made a kayak modelled on her vagina has denied obscenity charges at the start of her trial in a case that has drawn accusations of censorship and double standards.
Megumi Igarashi, who calls herself Rokudenashiko – which roughly translates as good-for-northing girl – was  first arrested  last July after distributing 3D scans of her genitalia to people in return for donations to her project to create the unusual kayak.
The 43-year-old artist told the Tokyo district court on Wednesday that her “vagina selfies” were not obscene. “I do not dispute the facts [of the charge], but my artwork is not obscene,” Igarashi said, according to the Kyodo news agency.
Defence lawyers will argue that using the penal code to punish obscenity violates Igarashi’s constitutional right to freedom of expression. “Even if it were constitutional, the defendant’s work is not a precise reproduction of the vulva and does not cause sexual arousal,” Kyodo quoted a defence counsel for Igarashi as telling the court.
If found guilty, Igarashi could face up to two years in prison or a maximum fine of 2.5 million yen (£14,200) for distributing obscene objects.

Buhari, No Safe Haven For Looters, Please! - Punch Editorial

THE moral decadence of Nigeria’s political class is playing out in the ongoing mass defections from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to the victorious opposition All Progressives Congress. No sooner had Muhammadu Buhari of the APC triumphed over President Goodluck Jonathan than the floodgates opened for prominent PDP stalwarts looking perpetually to the spoils of office to jump ship. Buhari and the APC now have a historic mission to break with the prevailing predatory system that has foisted parasitic political elite on the country.
Perhaps unwittingly, the APC’s campaign slogan of “change” has ignited high hopes in many Nigerians that its presidential flagbearer, Buhari, who has, in over four decades in the public glare, built a reputation for honesty and discipline will lead a paradigm shift for accountability in public office. The mass migration of the flotsam and jetsam of the tainted political class to his corner presents the first challenge for the President-elect and his party to stamp their identity as change agents.

U.S. Set To Sanction Patience Jonathan, Orubebe, Others Over Election Incitement

The United States government appears set to sanction Nigeria’s first lady, Patience Jonathan, a former Niger Delta minister, Godsday Orubebe, and the governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, and other Nigerians accused of either disrupting the just concluded elections, or instigating violence.
The U.S. said Monday that it will impose visa restrictions on any Nigerian found to have incited violence or interfered with the electoral process.

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said in a statement that the U.S. will shut its doors on people involved in any form of violence during the polls.
“Anyone found to have incited violence or interfered with electoral processes will be unwelcome in the United States and subject to visa sanctions,” Ms. Thomas-Greenfield said.
Although Ms. Thomas-Greenfield did not give names of those considered for sanctions, Mr. Orubebe, appears one of the most likely targets.

Two Wins From Glory: Chelsea Have One Hand On Title As Vital Win Over United Moves Chelsea 10 points Clear

chelsea
Two more games; that’s all it will take. Two more games and Jose Mourinho will have confirmed his mastery of the Premier League with a third title in five attempts at the trophy and Chelsea will be crowned champions.
The clue that this was the decisive game was in the manic nature of the second half. Not on the pitch, but on the touchline. Mourinho and his assistant Rui Faria were up and down with unusual intensity, even for them, waving players back with the most extravagant gestures when they lost the ball.
Hold on to this lead, was the implicit message, and a huge step will have been taken to the ultimate goal. In fact, as One Step Beyond played at the end of the game and the players congregated in the centre circle, there was a sense that the celebrations were already in swing.

How do you feel to be back home?
It is very, very nice to be back, very good feeling of family, camaraderie to be back in one's homeland. It is indescribable: the reception, the joy of being back home. First, I want to say a big 'thank you' to all journalists. Without you, without your steadfastness, your commitment to truth and justice, your tenacity, the struggle would have been nothing. We are back to strengthen that section of the press which stood for justice courageously. I salute the religious leaders, particularly the CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria) with honourable men such as Reverend Sunday Mbang, Reverend Adetiloye and the rest of them. To have seen this nation go through struggle without loss of lives in their hundreds of thousands; without turning this Nigeria into Rwanda or Burundi, was due to their prayers, and their courageous support for justice and truth. We will continue to praise them and hold them in the highest esteem. The history of this country will not be complete without their names being written in gold.
