Former US President George HW Bush Dead At 94
George Herbert Walker Bush (left at his 1989 inauguration, main in 2013) died at 10.10pm CT on Friday at his home in Houston, his office confirmed in a statement. The statement did not specify the cause of death, but Bush had a form of Parkinson's disease and had been hospitalized several times for pneumonia and other infections in recent years. Days before his death, Bush was reportedly hospitalized with low blood pressure. The World War II hero, who presided over the final days of the Cold War and the crackup of the Soviet Union, died less than eight months after the April death of his wife of more than 70 years, Barbara (with him right). Bush's eldest son George W. Bush (with him inset), the 43rd president, reacted to his father's passing in a statement on behalf of his siblings, saying: 'Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died.'
2019: Wike Resigns As PDP Campaign Zonal Coordinator
A major upset may have hit the presidential campaign of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar as the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike resigned his appointment as the south zonal coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential campaign council.
A reliable source close to the governor told Saturday Sun late Friday night that Wike’s letter of resignation as Atiku’s campaign coordinator for the south was ready and would be submitted today, Saturday.
The PDP had in October named Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council along with prominent leaders of the party as zonal coordinators.
Police Officer Who Was Shot Dead By Robbers In A Hotel, Laid To Rest.
The deceased identified as SP Aduku Omale Simon, a native of Ugwolawo in Ofu local government area of Kogi State, was killed few weeks ago by armed robbers in a hotel in Mandala, in Niger State.
He was buried recently at his hometown in Kogi state.

Home Office to be challenged in High Court over ‘shameless’ fee for UK-born children to become British citizens
Government fees of more than £1,000 for UK-born children to register as British citizens are to be challenged in the High Court, after campaigners won permission to apply for judicial review.
Lawyers will argue that the fee is unlawful. The administrative cost of processing a citizenship application is £372, meaning the Home Office makes a profit of £640 for the registration of each child.
If parents are unable to afford the fee, children who were born in Britain or came here as babies are being prevented from going on school trips and attending college because they are not registered as citizens.

Investigators said the men, one armed with a gun, came through an unlocked door at a home on NW 12th Court. One intruder rushed to grab a woman who was awake when the intruders stormed through the door. The second intruder pointed a gun at a man sleeping on the couch. He woke up. The two struggled around the living room before the intruder tied up the man on the floor.
EFCC Hands Over Forfeited 116 Cars, 20 Properties to First Bank
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, handed over 116 (One Hundred and Sixteen) cars and 20 (Twenty) landed properties in Edo, Rivers and Lagos States recovered from one Michael Obasuyi Osasogie to First Bank Plc.
Trouble began for Osasogie after a petition he wrote to the Commission against E-tranzact in March 2018.
The Commission had, however, investigated Osasogie's business interests, following receipt of a counter-petition written by e-tranzact against Osasogie and one of his companies, SmartMicro.
SmartMicro was said to have approached e-tranzact in 2012 for the deployment of bulk purchase solution called “Corporatepay” to facilitate payment of salaries of Delta State employees in microfinance banks.
EFCC Nabs Lebanese with Over $2m at Abuja Airport
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested one Abbas Lakis, a Lebanese for money laundering offence.
Lakis was picked up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following intelligence report that he had on him, undeclared huge sums of monies aboard the Egypt Airline bringing him from the Kano Airport en route Lebanon.
At the point of arrest, a thorough search on his luggage, uncovered $2,104,936 (Two Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty six Dollars), £163, 740 (One Hundred and Sixty Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Pounds), €144,680 (One Hundred and Forty Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty Euros).

Two blood brothers, Ayodeji Obadimeji, 18 and Saheed Obadimeji, 19, have been arrested with a fresh human head identified as that of a 10-year-old boy that was declared missing in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
The siblings who admitted to have committed the act, told policemen during interrogation that they were contracted by one Sodiq Abefe, to get a human head, with a promise to pay them N200,000.
The duo were alleged to have lured the unsuspecting boy identified as Joseph Makinde, by sending him to buy them a bottle of drink on Tuesday. There were however different accounts as to how the Primary School pupil met his unprepared end.
A version for the account alleged that immediately he took the bottle of soft drink to the Oladimejis, one of them smashed a hard object on his head, causing him to slump, before cutting off his head.

McDonald’s Ordering Touchscreen Tests 'Reveal Poo And Bacteria On Terminals' - London Metropolitan University Sampled Eight McDonald’s Restaurants In The UK
Bacteria and faeces were found on McDonald’s touchscreens during an investigation, it has been claimed.
Machines at a number of UK branches were swabbed and it was reportedly found they all had coliforms - bacteria present in animal and human excrement.
McDonald's customers often place their orders using touchscreens at the fast food restaurants, before heading over to the counter to collect their food.
But a probe claims a number of bacteria were found on all the screens tested, used by thousands of customers every day.
London Metropolitan University's school of human sciences and Metro.co.uk's study says they took swabs from eight McDonald's restaurants, including six in London and two in Birmingham.
Saraki, Atiku Move To Pacify Ekweremadu
Senate President Bukola Saraki and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, among other party bigwigs, are making frantic efforts to cajole Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu to remain in the party, Daily Trust has learnt. It was gathered that as part of the efforts to convince Ekweremadu to remain in PDP, Saraki, Atiku and the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, met with the deputy Senate president at his Abuja residence on Monday night.
Sources told Daily Trust yesterday in Abuja that the trio of Atiku, Saraki and Secondus alongside other PDP stalwarts appealed to Ekweremadu not to feel alienated by the party which he supported during its most turbulent moments.

DSS Rescues American Citizen Who Was Reportedly Held Hostage And Raped By A Nigerian Lover She Met On Social Media
The Department of State Services (DSS) has rescued an American citizen, Tawanda Lynn Jackson, who was reportedly held hostage by one Mathew Adedoyin, her acquaintance whom she met on the social media.
The suspect was paraded along with his purported accomplice today by the Director of DSS, Lagos Command, Betty Adoki, a statement from the Lagos State Ministry of Justice revealed. Adoki said 46-year-old Jackson arrived in Lagos on November 11th and was received at the airport by Adedoyin who allegedly raped her several times.
According to her, the American Embassy in Lagos had reported to the Command about Jackson’s abduction and they immediately commenced an investigation which resulted in the raid of the location by a team of security operatives and military personnel. Adoki said the suspect had lured the black American mother of five through the social media purportedly for a visit, claiming to be a wealthy prince from a royal family of Ile-Ife in Osun State.

Immediately emerging president, Olujonwo unveiled the BYO Next Level T-shirt to mark the launching of 2019 presidential campaign for President Buhari.
Recall that Olajuwon had earlier expressed his willingness to work for the re-election bid of President Buhari.

Ekweremadu, South East Governors Meet With President Buhari
The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Governors of the South East geo-political zone on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
Those in attendance were governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States.
After the meeting, the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, told journalists that their visit was to show appreciation for some of the projects being handled by the Federal Government in the region especially the contract of the second Niger Bridge.
He also stated that the visit was to request for more funds to speed up the completion of the projects.
