Following the sitting of the Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, Imo state today the election of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of eastern Nigerian state of Abia has being nullified.
The court has however ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to swear in Dr Alex Otti, a former banker and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The state election tribunal had upheld Ikpeazu’s election in a ruling on 4 November. Ikpeazu will also likely challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court.
