CBN Introduces New Charges On Bank Deposits And Withdrawals

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday announced the reintroduction of bank charges on certain categories of cash deposits and withdrawals.
This came about three years after the apex bank stopped the charges.
In a circular to all Deposit Money Banks posted on its website, the regulator said the decision to reintroduce the charges on cash deposits was part of the review of charges on deposits and withdrawals under the cashless policy .
It said the decision was taken at the Bankers’ Committee meeting , which held in Abuja two weeks ago.

Sara Beltran-Hernandez, 26, from El Salvador, was taken from the Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth to the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, on Wednesday evening.

She had been hospitalized after collapsing at the detention center earlier this month and was told she needed surgery.

The Immigration Checkpoints and Raids Are Really Happening In At Least Six States

U.S. immigration authorities made a series of arrests in at least half a dozen states across the country on Thursday and Friday, sweeping up an unknown number of undocumented immigrants, immigration lawyers and advocates said.

The raids, which appeared to target scores of people, including those without criminal records, mark the first largescale episode of immigration enforcement inside the United States since President Trump’s Jan. 26 order to crack down on the estimated 11 million immigrants living here illegally. Immigration lawyers and advocates said some of the enforcement efforts included traffic stops and checkpoints, though Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials disputed those accounts, saying the agency does not use checkpoints while engaging in targeted enforcement operations.

38,000 Nigerian Companies De-registered By CAC For Failing To File Returns (See List)

The Corporate Affairs Commission on Tuesday said it had de-registered the names of over 38,000 companies from its register for failing to file annual returns to the commission.

The Registrar-General, CAC, Mr Bello Mahmud, stated this while speaking during a chat with journalists in Abuja.

He said that the delisting of the companies have been gazetted by the commission, adding that only the court can give an order for the companies to be readmitted into the register of the commission.

Trump Is Set To Soften His Immigration Ban: New Executive Order Will Exempt Green Card Holders And Dual Citizens

According to an AP report, a draft of President Donald Trump's revised immigration ban targets the same seven countries listed in his original executive order and exempts travelers who already have a visa to travel to the U.S., even if they haven't used it yet.

A senior administration official said the order, which Trump revised after federal courts held up his original immigration and refugee ban, will target only those same seven Muslim-majority countries - Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya.
The official said that green-card holders and dual citizens of the U.S. and any of those countries are exempt. The new draft also no longer directs authorities to single out - and reject - Syrian refugees when processing new visa applications.

Writing for Cincinnati.com, Mark P Painter, a former Ohio Court of Appeals Judge, has offered to help his congressman Representative Steve Chabot draft the articles for impeachment.

"In any time except our post-factual era, no office holder, much less the president, could get away with any one of the dozens of dazzlingly illegal things Trump has already done. They would forfeit office immediately," Mr Painter wrote.
