The latest trophy in the Kanneh-Mason family home arrived this week, carried back to Nottingham with its owner’s dirty washing and maths revision books.

It belongs to 17-year-old Sheku, who, on Sunday, won the Holy Grail for any aspiring performer when he was named BBC Young Musician 2016.

Judges called his concerto performance in London ‘electrifying, sincere and moving’. It left the audience marvelling that anyone so young (he had to dash home for AS exams) could deliver such magic. Yet Sheku wears his talent as casually as his Bob Marley T-shirt.

The Peoples Democratic Party has fired its national chairman, Modu Sheriff, and has appointed an interim party executive led by a former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi.

A former Anambra governor, Peter Obi, was also appointed interim secretary of the party.
The caretaker committee will pilot the affairs of the party for three months, our sources said.

3 weeks after allegedly stabbing MTN’s customer care executive, Oluwatosin Ashinwo, 30, to death in Ilorin, Kwara State, for rejecting his love advances, David Ogundele, 45, was finally been arrested, in Osun on Saturday, May 14, after the police tracked him down with undercover agents, Punch reports.
Ogundele allegedly stabbed Oluwatosin and her mother, multiple times, in her apartment at Tanke, Ilorin, and reportedly locked them in as he fled. Oluwatosin later died while her injured mother survived after undergoing a life-saving surgery.

EgyptAir flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo goes missing

The Airbus A320 (pictured centre on previous flight) left the French capital's Charles De Gaulle Airport at 11:09pm local time on Wednesday night and then went missing, three hours and 40 minutes into its journey. The plane vanished 10 miles into Egyptian airspace over the Mediterranean Sea, 20 minutes before it was due to land. It was supposed touch down at 3:05am local time.

Emotions ran high in Chibok yesterday as the first of 219 school girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents over two years ago was brought to the village for identification.
Amina Ali was rescued on Tuesday night in Bale village at the edge of the Sambisa forest by a Chibok vigilante group which handed her over to the military.

Amina Ali, was airlifted by Nigeria Air Force Super Puma aircraft from Damboa to Maiduguri, Borno State alongside her baby and supposed husband, Mohammed Hayatu. Prior to that, they were examined at Air Force medical facility and were found to be stable and normal blood pressure was observed.

Okafor Ifeanyi Anthony, 36, and Adibe Paschal, 35, were arrested and have been charged over allegedly transporting more than 1kg of cocaine into Cambodia. They allegedly swallowed the drugs to sneak them into the Kingdom from the United Arab Emirates. A total of 70 wraps of cocaine were excreted by the duo, who if found guilty, could each face up to 25 years in prison

Three girls have been saved from death after an evil pastor chained and locked them in a room for weeks to die.
