How 4-Year-Old Girl Stolen During Service In Lagos Church Was Found In Benin

A little girl who was stolen during a church service at the Christ Embassy church in Lagos has been found in Benin. 

Family members of a missing four-year-old girl, Elo Ogidi, were overjoyed on Friday after she was found in an orphanage in Benin, Edo State, Punch Metro reports.

Elo was reportedly stolen from the Christ Embassy in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State, during a church service she attended in company with her parents and their housemaid on Sunday, July 8, 2018.

Elo’s father, Okpogene Ogidi, who confirmed the development to Saturday Punch on Friday, said some suspects were also arrested.

Ademola stabbed Ogunsakin,80, to death in Ikole LGA of Ekiti state on Monday after a meeting with his palace chiefs.

It may seem paradoxical. Last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared to issue an open invitation to refugees with a tweet declaring, “to those fleeing persecution, terror & war ... #WelcomeToCanada.” This year, his government is working hard to deter thousands of people who are walking over the U.S. border to seek asylum in Canada.

Canada has begun granting refugee status to fewer irregular border crossers—that is, people who walk into the country without going through a designated port of entry. Since President Donald Trump was elected, over 27,000 people have crossed into Canada overland. (By comparison, only 2,000 people did this in 2016.) In 2017, the country granted refugee status to 53 percent of such border crossers, but that number was down to 40 percent in the first three months of this year, Reuters reported. Did Trudeau change his mind about Canada’s welcoming posture in general? Or is something else at work here?

Operatives of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command, were on Saturday night plunged into mourning, following the murder of four of their colleagues. According to police sources, the four policemen were mowed down in Kaduna State by suspected herdsmen.

A recent ruling by Canada's refugee board makes it harder for Nigerians to be granted asylum, and refugee lawyers are unhappy about how unfair it is.


The Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL) is dragging the Canadian government to court over a recent court ruling that will make it hard for Nigerians to be granted asylum in the North American country.

According to a report by New York Times, the association is displeased with the recent decision of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) to establish as a legal precedent its ruling to deny a Nigerian woman’s asylum request.

The unnamed Nigerian woman was denied asylum even though she claimed she fled Nigeria to escape the practice of female genital mutilation. 

The court ruled that she could have sought refuge away from her rural family home in any of Nigeria’s large cities of Ibadan or Port Harcourt, and not necessarily run all the way to Canada.

Reconstruction And Upgrade Of The Onikan Stadium Lagos Begins (Photos)

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday approved the rehabilitation and upgrade of the 5,000 capacity Onikan Stadium, near Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos Island, in order to make it meet the expectations of a 21st Century sporting facility.

The stadium’s upgrade is also in line with the new Onikan-Marina Regeneration plan.

In a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the State Government said the upgrade demonstrates its commitment to use sports as a potent tool for development and job creation; adding that the stadium, which is the oldest in Nigeria, was originally built in 1930 but was last renovated in the 1980s.

A lady in Abuja has busted a Taxify Driver who specialises in tricking his passengers to pay more after their trips.

According to the lady, what the Taxi Driver does is to show the passenger a screenshot of a previously saved trip, which definitely will cost more than the current trip and she was certain a lot of people must have fallen for the trick.

“I requested for Taxify this yesterday morning (21st ), from galadimawa to Karimo in Abuja. I got into the cab, the driver started the trip and we set out.

Olubadan’s Letter Forced New Kings To Make Peace – Ladoja

The Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, Rashidi Ladoja, said the high chiefs of Ibadan land, who were elevated to the position of kings by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, decided to seek an end to their rift with the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, after the monarch wrote letters to the secretaries of the traditional councils in the 11 council areas of Ibadan, telling them to stop all the traditional councils’ financial transactions unless he appended to them.

The Olubadan had refused to recognise the high chiefs as kings but after almost one year of the rift, the two parties had a peace meeting at his palace. Speaking to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, Ladoja said the monarch had ignored all activities of the new kings until they released a statement where they claimed that they had withheld the monarch’s allowance and palace staff salaries.

A spokesperson for the family of Stefan Karl Stefansson tells us the actor died Tuesday surrounded by friends and family. We're told Stefan had battled bile duct cancer for two years before his death.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the singer died "intestate" -- meaning she had no will at the time of death.

Fele', Oyo NURTW Boss, Is Dead

There was anxiety across Oyo State on Tuesday as news broke of the death of the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alh. Taofeek Oyerinde (aka Fele).

Though details of his reported death were scanty as at press time, The Nation learnt that the National President of the union, Alhaji Yasin and other Stakeholders have announced the appointment of the Vice Chairman of the union in Oyo State, Alhaji Abideen Olajide ( a.k.a Ejiogbe) as the Acting Chairman.

A reliable source close to the late commercial drivers’ boss confirmed his death to The Nation Tuesday.

Pakistaninew Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to sack more than 500 servants and ditch bulletproof cars as he told the country to tighten its belt.

The former cricket star called for the rich to start paying taxes and said Pakistan will begin an austerity drive to reduce debt.

Popular Musician Yinka Ayefele, who is presently heartbroken after his N800 million Music House was demolished on Sunday by agents of the Oyo State government, has revealed that Governor Abiola Ajimobi gave her wife the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) and assured that he will not demolish the building.

You will recall that the building, which houses Fresh FM Ibadan, a radio owned by Ayefele was demolished in the early hours of Sunday.

Ayefele made these revelations while reading his press statement titled “Governor Ajimobi and the Sunday breakfast disaster”, at a press conference held at the demolished building, Monday evening.

A young girl who was kidnapped when she was two years old, has been found after four years. The girl identified as Onyinyechi Okpala was stolen on 30th November 2014, when she and her mother went for end of yearthe party which was hosted by "Taribo" her uncle in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state. 

They searched everywhere for the little girl all to no avail. The mother couldn't contain her sorrow as she came for the party with her little daughter and went home without her.
