Every officer knows that an early morning call from the Commissioner of Police is not in exchange of pleasantries but serious business.

Bolaji Odesanya, who was Commander at Area ‘G’, knew this much. But he didn’t know how big his assignment was going to be when he received a call from his boss, Mohammed Abubakar, early on March 13, 2008.

“Commander Golf, there’s a bank robbery going on at Dopemu,” the voice on the other end alerted Odesanya, setting up a chain reaction that would lead his team into a historic heroic feat.

Odesanya had just arrived in his office at Ogba, and the radio message came in as he was settling down on his seat.

The Lagos State Police Command has finally sacked a SARS Officer, Inspector Charles Omotosho, who allegedly extorted N5, 000 from some road users in Ikorodu area of the state.
The cop was sacked after his activities came to light following tweets from Princess Ife, who on May 16, claimed that Omotosho threatened to shoot at them, except they paid a ‘ransom’ of N5000.

Her tweet read: “With my encounter today, it is safe to say SARS are armed robbers. Was going for a shoot in Ikorodu today and armed member of SARS pulled us over and made us pay for no reason.”

Man Using Wire To Steal From Tithe Box In Anglican Church Port Harcourt, Caught

A man was, yesterday, caught stealing from the tithe box of St. Marks Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a reporter, Ezekiel tamunominabo West, the suspect had been doing it in several churches before running out of luck, yesterday. .

He normally uses wire with a gum at its tip. He had only managed to steal N500 before being caught. The Vicar of the church was said to have prayed for him.

Prison Warders Collect Bribe To Escort Imprisoned Kidnap Kingpin Stanley Erujere To Hotel For Meeting With Gang

An imprisoned Delta kidnap kingpin, Stanley Erujere has been rearrested by detectives alongside two prison warders who escorted him to a hotel for a meeting with his gang members. 

The Prison warders, DCIP Anthony Nketan, 55, and SPA Justice Oveto, 34 reportedly provided easy access for the imprisoned Delta kidnap kingpin, who reportedly went out on three occasions to hold meetings in a hotel room with members of his kidnap gang who thereafter went about wreaking havoc across Delta State.

32-year-old Stanley Erujere who is serving 21 years jail term in Okere Prisons, Warri, was arrested by police officers inside Omaks Hotel, situated at No. 40 Ginuwa road, Warri alongside Oveto, the warder who escorted him from the prison to the hotel. The pair later indicted DCIP Nketan, as the man who provided them with the pass that facilitated their exit from the prison.

Two students of the Abia State University were killed in a fatal accident which occurred today in Imo State. 

The accident involving a Young Shall Grow vehicle happened in Okigwe about few hours ago.

According to an eyewitness, who boarded the first bus, the two students are sister. They were going to visit their parents.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has hailed a Nigerian designer, Emmanuel Okoro, who designed the jacket she wore to Nigeria on Wednesday for an official visit.

May, in a tweet, said: “I was delighted to meet @emmykasbit who designed the jacket I wore in hashtag#Nigeria hashtag# UKAfrica #MadeInNigeria.”

Okoro is the founder of Emmy Kasbit. He started his brand in 2013.

Ahead of the 2019 Governorship elections, Minister of the Transport Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is said to have endorsed Mr. Tonye Dele Cole, Founder of the Sahara Energy Resources Limited, oil and Gas businessman as his preferred candidate to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  in Rivers.

 Although Amaechi, who is the leader of the party has not made his choice official, however, his very close ally and the Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, who was the Governorship in 2015 and his Deputy Governorship candidate, Honorable Asita O. Asita have both pledge their support pledged their  support in the choice of Arc. Tony Dele Cole as the All Progressives Congress, APC, a gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election.

Peterside, who made his support official in a statement he personally signed on today, Friday, August 31, made available to our Correspondent, called on APC faithful to rally support behind Mr. Cole, whom he called “my friend and brother in Christ”, for the sake of APC and the ordinary people of Rivers State.

In a statement he signed in person, which he captioned “Unity to Triumph”, Peterside,  recalled his earlier commitment to stand by whatever decision Amaechi would make in the overall interest of the party and Rivers state. “I reiterated my position yesterday in the leadership meeting. Rather than simply being a showpiece, the two-door car that transported Aretha’s body was also the same vehicle in the funeral of her late father Rev. C.L. Franklin.

A lady has taken to her Facebook page to cry out following the death of her brother, one Olatunji Adedeji Odusan.
According to her, he was allegedly beaten to death by security guards of popular Nigerian church, Christ Embassy.

She said the unfortunate incident occurred during an argument over parking space.

Olatunji was there to pick a wheelchair bound student of the church’s healing school when the altercation occurred – after he was assaulted, he died on his way to the hospital.

Ayodeji Bejide, GTBank MD Arrested For Throwing Calculator At Staff In Liberia

Although police spokesman H. Moses Carter’s mobile phone had remained switched off up to press time last night, the Daily Observer reliably gathered that officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) are holding Ayodeji Bejide, managing director (MD) of Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) Liberia, in custody on the charge of physical assault against an employee of the bank.

Due to the severity of the wounds he inflicted on Edward Freeman, the assaulted employee who was on active duty, police will subsequently forward Bejide to court for prosecution.

On Tuesday, August 28, a video shared on Facebook shows Mr. Freeman bleeding from his lips in Bejide’s office after Bejide reportedly threw a calculator at him, allegedly wounding him on his lips.

After reportedly wounding Mr. Freeman, Bejide was heard in the video telling the employee to calm down, threatening to dismiss him if he made any further comment.

Ex-Gov, Uduaghan Formally Dumps PDP For APC, Gives Reasons

The immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Uduaghan, a founding member of the PDP and Delta South Senate aspirant in 2019 confirmed his defection at a meeting of the APC national caucus held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the party, including national officers, state governors, former state governors, ministers and National Assembly members.

Kwankwaso Supporters Involved In Fatal Accident On Their Way To Abuja. Photos

Some Kwankwasiyya members who were travelling to Abuja ahead of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's official declaration on Wednesday, have been involved in a fatal accident. According to reports, the Kwankwaso supporters were on their way to Abuja from Kano state, the senator's area before the tragic incident.

Many passengers were injured and some others feared dead in the crash.

UK Returns £70m Recovered From A Nigerian Convicted Of Fraud By Italian Court.

As British Prime Minister Theresa May visits Nigeria and two other African countries this week, the country reported it had returned £70 million recovered from a Nigerian, who was convicted of fraud by an Italian court.

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright, said in Abuja: “There was an Italian court case with a particular person involved. A portion the fund has been in the UK and that was the portion that was returned recently from the UK to Nigeria.’’

The envoy did not mention the identity of the Nigerian involved in the offence but said more funds would be repatriated.

He stressed that his country was working with the Nigerian government to accelerate the legal process of returning the looted money.

Applicant Dies Inside Ikoyi Passport Office Toilet

An applicant seeking Nigerian international passport has died in Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Passport office, Ikoyi, Lagos. 

The applicant was said to have arrived the passport office at about 7.am in company of his wife and they were asked to wait till 9.am when they would be attended to. 

It was gathered that at about I0.am, the man became restless and started complaining of severe heat and discomfort. He, however, requested to use the restroom.

However, trouble started when he didn’t come out of the toilet after about half an hour and his wife became very worried.

It was learned that after about 40 minutes, attendant from the agency knocked several times and he did not respond. ”We tried to open the door, but it was locked from the inside,” the attendant said.

Final Year Student Of Federal Polytechnic Ede Beaten To Death After Killing 5 People In An Accident In Ede Town. (Photos)

A final year Building Technology student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, was, today, lynched for using his car to kill at least five people, including some Post UTME students.

According to report, the deceased, identified as Fisayo, said to be a yahoo boy, was driving recklessly with two other friends, when they first hit someone at Akoda, then, while being chased, they hit another person at Eleha, Bepo.

While still fleeing, they rammed into a bike rider with his passengers at Orita Oloki, where they were eventually tracked down and Fisayo was beaten to death, as his friends fled. 

Many people said the occupants of the car were drunk or high on drugs due to the amount of drugs retrieved from their car, which was later destroyed by the angry mob. Fisayo allegedly wrote his final exam as an undergraduate, just last week.

Salvador has been at loggerheads with a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Bode George. Salvador made the declaration at his Salvador Towers residence in Lagos.

The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Nkeiru Onyejeocha, had also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Jim Iyke Arrested Lagos Airport For Slapping Dana Air Staff (Video)

Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, was, this afternoon, arrested by the policemen attached to the Lagos airport after he slapped a staff of Dana Air.

It was gathered that the actor had missed his flight to Abuja, after arriving at the airport late and he got angry. However, when a security staff of the airline was trying to profile him (search him), Iyke gave him a slap.

The airport policemen were immediately called in by the management of the airline and Iyke has whisked away.

”Jonathan Was Forced To Concede 2015 Election” – Former IGP, Suleiman Abba

Suleiman Abba, the former inspector-general of police, has revealed that the police under him forced former President Goodluck Jonathan to concede the 2015 election to President Buhari.

In an interview with DailyTrust, Abba said;

“Thank God that in our own case, we forced those who lost elections to accept the results. The Nigeria police forced those who lost elections to accept the outcome. I said the Nigeria Police, I didn’t say Suleiman Abba. It was the action of the police that made them to have a change of mind and accept the results. How Passengers Almost Fell Into A River After Bus Tragedy On Edo Bridge

It would have been a different and sad tale for some travelling passengers had their bus not stopped moments after reaching the edge of a bride along Okene-Okpella highway.

The bus almost veered off the bridge and nearly fell into the river along the bridge between Okene and Okpella in Edo state, as the driver was quick to stop the vehicle after initially losing control.

Road users and motorists are calling on the state and federal government to build a guard rail on the open bridge which has recorded many accidents - to prevent this kind of incident.

Ryanair Pilot Fainted Mid-Air As Plane Was Diverted During Thunderstorm

A Ryanair pilot fainted while a plane was being diverted during a torrential thunderstorm.

The plane took off from London Stansted to Palermo in Italy on Thursday evening but had to land 67 miles away in Trapani due to weather conditions in the area.

As the plane approached the runway, the co-pilot passed out and the captain was forced to land the plane himself.

25-Year Old Lady Died In The Hand Of A Local Priest

A 25-year old lady has died in the hand of a local priest. Idowu Ogunkoya, according to media reports, was drafted to the shrine of a deity, Ayelala, by her father, Temitayo Ogunkoya, where one Lekan Olukolu was the priest in charge.

The late Idowu's sin, according to a press release made available to Newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ogun Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, was an alleged possession of witchcraft and required spiritual cleansing.

On arrival at the shrine, the priest reportedly shaved the hair on the victim's head and gave her a liquid substance to drink, all in a bid to deliver her from the alleged witchcraft.

But beyond their expectations, the lady suddenly slumped and died.

Consequently, one Lucky Oghenetega, Idowu's would-be husband, lodged a complaint with the police at the Ago-Iwoye Police Divisional headquarters, on the strength of which the DPO, CSP Adeola Adedoyin, led a team of detectives to the shrine, situated at Ojuolota area on Ijesha Road, Ago-Iwoye, where the priest was promptly arrested alongside the deceased's father on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for further investigation.

On Thursday, August 23rd, a fatal accident that occurred along the Zariagi-Lokoja highway in Kogi state, left three persons burnt beyond recognition. It has now been revealed that one of the deceased, Hafsat, had just recently graduated from the Kogi State University and was set to leave for NYSC camp in two weeks time.

Hafsat and nine others were involved in the accident. While three of them were burnt to death, five of the victims are currently receiving medical care at the state hospital while one of the victims escaped unhurt.

Two Nigerian Housemaids Killed By Their Bosses In Saudi Arabia. (Photos)

Two Nigerian girls have been allegedly killed by their employers after being trafficked to work as housemaids in Saudi Arabia.

The murder of the two young women occurred within a space of two weeks in the respective homes where they worked as servants by their Saudi bosses.

According to Satellite Times, the first Nigerian girl to be murdered was by name Omotayo who until her death in June 2018 worked as a migrant domestic worker in Riyadh.

She reportedly sent this photo to her friends in a group chat called “Strong Nigerian Ladies” – a solidarity group created by Nigerian migrant domestic workers in Saudi Arabia. .
