Government Minister In Lion-Trade Scandal - Exported A Huge Shipment Of Lions To A Canned Hunting outfit in South Africa.

Roaring business: The 22 lions were sent to a game farm in South Africa to feed a voracious appetite for trophies and skeletons.

Botswana's minister of agriculture, Christian de Graaff, is under fire after he exported a large shipment of lions to a canned hunting outfit in South Africa last month.
De Graaff sent 22 lions to the Makhulu Game Farm near Boshof in the Free State. Employees at the facility, owned by Henk Vorster, openly discuss how the lions are hunted and their skeletons sold to Asian buyers. Some are bred for sale to international zoos.
At the game farm, a popular local tourist venue about 80km from Kimberley, 18 young lions were crammed together in a small quarantine enclosure of about 30m by 30m this week. With no shade and only a tiny corrugated iron-roofed hut to protect them, they were panting furiously in the blazing heat.
Other camps hold fewer lions – full-maned males and white lions. The excrement is cleaned only every two weeks, according to staff, and the stench from this and the carcasses of the donkeys fed to the lions is overwhelming. Many of the young lions are hand-reared and respond to calls from staff members, who said that until recently, there were 300 of the big cats on the farm. Now there are only about 200, including the 22 exported by De Graaff.

The Super Lifestyle Of Nigerians In London: Kola Karim, Richard Vedelago, Rotimi Alakija, Other Top the List

Cuppy and Father with father's boat below
Richard Vedelago is 29 years old and worth more millions than he’s prepared to tell. ‘Money talks, but wealth whispers,’ he says with a smile, sitting back in the bar at Claridge’s – his idea – and lazily sipping an elderflower juice. That whispering is not, the oil, gas, property, telecoms and menswear tycoon goes on, typical of a Nigerian mindset: ‘Very loud, quite brash, larger than life -even if you’re just having a family meal, everything’s over the top all the time. writes David Jenkins for Tatler.  So it’s quite fun.’ Real fun, he should have said. Nigerians all say they work hard and party hard, believe that they’re better at anything than anyone else, collect PhDs like confetti and are intensely entrepreneurial. ‘When mankind finally gets to Mars,’ chortles Ateh Jewel, who has both a film production company and a beauty business, ‘they’ll finda Nigerian already there, cutting a deal.’

What’s always been big is the wedding culture, enormous affairs with thousands of guests. Also big are the Lagos Polo Club and the Lagos Motor Boat Club, where all well-connected generations mix – and, no doubt, discuss the two almost identical, and large, yachts that sit next to each other off Victoria Island’s Carrington Crescent. One’s owned by Cuppy’s father, Femi Otedola -his net worth is an estimated £2.2bn – and the other belongs to Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, with a net worth of £10.1bn via a conglomerate ranging from cement to sugar refining by way of oil. He gave himself a £28m jet in April 2010, as a 53rd birthday present.

Nelson Mandela started his final journey today as his body was taken from his home in a coffin draped in the South African flag he loved so ardently as it was announced his funeral will be on Sunday, December 15.

His beloved country has started ten days of mourning, with flags flying at half mast for 'Madiba' or 'Tata' as he was devotedly called.

Cyber Bullying: This Toke Makinwa and Linda Ikeji Issue

This article was written by 9ice's ex wife, Toni Payne...enjoy!

Let me start by saying, we sometimes avoid those touchy subjects because we wish to avoid “drama” but Cyber Bullying is one concept it seems we are yet to get a full grasp on its consequences. Currently, in America there is a full campaign launched against bullying in general, where different celebs have been actively campaigning to stop bullying. We have seen cases of young ones committing  suicide because they couldn’t handle the bullying. I pray and hope things don’t get this far in my motherland, although I suspect it may have and we just don’t document it as much.

Nelson Mandela Dies

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95.
The anti-apartheid hero was admitted to a Pretoria hospital on June 8 with a recurring lung infection.
He was discharged on September 1 after nearly three months in hospital, but had been in intensive medical care at his Johannesburg home.
Mr Mandela - or Madiba, as he was affectionately known - was revered among most of South Africa's 53 million people as the architect of the 1994 transition to multi-racial democracy after three centuries of white domination.
However his fourth hospitalisation in six months had reinforced a realisation that the father of the post-apartheid "Rainbow Nation" would not be around for ever.

Alaafin Turns Down Akala’s Request For Courtesy Visit

AN attempt by a former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, to stage a comeback to the centre of the state’s politics suffered a setback as his request to visit the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, was rejected for security reasons.
The governor had written to the monarch on November 30, on his plan to visit the Alaafin  on December 4.
The letter, which was signed by the former governor, stated that, “I equally wish to intimate you that my visit shall be political in nature.”
Although the Alaafin accepted the request in a reply sent to Alao-Akala on December 2, a fresh reply sent on Tuesday stated otherwise.
In his second  reply to Alao-Akala, Alaafin said his status as a former governor of the state required adequate security which could not be guaranteed with the absence of the state Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, from the state.
“Ajimobi is the chief security officer in the state and he is presently out of the state. Owing to his absence, necessary security arrangements could not be facilitated. I would like to advise that your courtesy visit to me in the palace be rescheduled to some other time when necessary and adequate security protocols would be put in place. In the mean time, accept my warmest fatherly affection and prayers,” Alaafin wrote.

What does your pee say about your health? New diagram shows when to be alarmed - and what you might be suffering from

The Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, has drawn up a diagram showing all of the different possible shades of urine colour and what each one means
Colourless urine indicates a person is drinking too much water
Healthy urine is considered pale straw coloured or transparent yellow
Amber or honey coloured urine indicates an urgent need for water
Brown ale coloured urine is a sign of liver disease or severe dehydration
Red urine could have blood in it and this is a symptom of bladder cancer, kidney disease, prostate problems and infections, the doctors say

The Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, has created a diagram which shows all of the different possible shades of urine colour and what they say about your health

From healthy 'pale straw' to potentially dangerous 'brown ale', urine comes in a wide range of colours.
Now doctors at a U.S. medical centre have drawn up a diagram to illustrate what is normal and what is not.
The chart, developed at the Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, says urine usually ranges from a deep amber or honey colour to a light straw colour, with many shades in between.

It says the colour of a person's urine says a lot about what is going on inside their body, and that people should take heed of its warnings.
The diagram shows that if a person's urine has no colour, it suggests they are drinking too much water and should consider cutting back.

Iyayi: Wole Soyinka Calls For A Coroner’s Inquest

This afternoon, enraged by the mortuary photos of Prof. Festus Iyayi published exclusively in TheNEWS magazine, the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka insisted that Iyayi must not be buried without a coroner’s inquest.
The following is the full text of his statement:
The world is watching. With the mortuary photos of the late Festus Iyayi just published in TheNEWS, the world is waiting and watching if the corpse shown in that image will be interred without a coroner’s inquest. To allow this to happen is to make all of us accessories to a possible crime. It means we are now attuned to the culture of impunity and forfeited all claims to elementary ctiizen security. Tributes ring hollow if doubts are silenced. “Beyond all doubt” is a protective armour  for each one of us, no matter where and how. So let the nation be placed in knowledge Beyond All Doubt over the circumstances of Festus Iyayi’s death. That is the minimum any self-respecting society must demand, not merely as a collective shield, but in the service of Truth, and for all posterity. We remain haunted by the far too frequent, unexplained decimation in the ranks of the committed.
A Coroner’s Inquest – that is where to begin.

Professor Festus Iyayi Former ASUU President - Murder Or Accident?

The nature of two holes on the late Professor Festus Iyayi’s body gives life to suspicions by his colleagues that he may have been shot
•Iyayi: Chest showing a big hole
Along with grief, anger will be the dominant emotion when Professor Festus Iyayi is buried this week in his hometown, Ugbegun in Edo State. The two feelings have mixed, predictably with unsavoury outcomes, since the former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, died on 12 November in an auto accident on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway. Iyayi was travelling to Kano in the company of three other ASUU members for a meeting on the ongoing strike by members of the union when a police escort van in the convoy of the Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State rammed into the bus the university teachers were travelling. Iyayi died instantly, while three his colleagues were seriously injured.
Wada, who was severely injured in an accident involving his convoy last year, was widely criticised by ASUU and the wider public for his failure to learn from his own experience and for allegedly failing to stop to assist the victims.
