Army Clarifies Arrest Of Rivers SSG, Gives Death Toll In Rivers Poll

The Nigeria Police have confirmed that four people were killed during the re-run elections in Rivers State on Saturday.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Six, Calabar, Adisa Bolanta, said four deaths were recorded while 22 persons were arrested during the elections.
Mr. Bolanta disclosed this on Sunday at a joint security news conference in Port Harcourt.
He said the suspects were being interrogated on allegations of criminal or electoral offences.
He said deployments made by the police assisted in reducing election-related offences.
Also, the Commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Stephenson Olabanji, confirmed the arrest of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
Also confirmed to have been arrested is a Special Assistant to the governor.

Disturbing Photos: Student Allegedly Battered By Principal For Slapping Head Girl

A 14 year old, SS2 student of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School, Bariga, Lagos,  named Ogechi Blessing, was flogged on her bare buttocks and back, allegedly by her school principal and 5 teachers for slapping the school's Head Prefect on March 16th.

According to reports, Ogechi was slapped by the head prefect of the school during a disagreement, and the SS2 student returned the slap.

The prefect reported the matter to the school principal and teachers who took Ogechi to their staff room where they allegedly asked her to pull up her uniform and underwear, and thereafter hot lashes of koboko was ministered to her bare back and buttocks.

INEC Releases 10 Results, Suspends Rivers Elections - PDP Wins Eight Constituencies, APC Victorious In One Constituency

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the results of nine state constituencies and one federal constituency in which rerun elections were held in Nigeria’s oil hub, Rivers State, on Saturday, but the commission was forced to suspend the electoral process in all other constituencies in the state where results were not announced due to the widespread violence that marred the elections.

However, based on the results released yesterday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consolidated its control of the state by emerging victorious in eight of the nine state constituencies and one federal constituency seat, while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won one state constituency seat.

Parent of a student at Queens College, Yaba wrote to OSG alleging that her JSS 2 student of the school was molested by a teacher.

The teacher at the centre of the allegation of molesting and sexually harassing the said student is Mr. Olaseni Oshifala, a Biology teacher at the school who won three different awards last year, one of them as the Best Overall Teacher in the school.

Tragic: Trailer Crushes Keke Passenger to Death in Lagos

A trailer crushed a keke passenger at Abattoir Road in Agege, Lagos, after the deceased who has been identified as Isa Sanni, fell out of the tricycle and was run over by the approaching truck. PUNCH reports that the incident happened around 2pm on Saturday. The truck driver, Emmanuel George, was almost lynched by a mob before he was rescued by the police, and also the late Sanni was among the three passengers of the keke.

Speaking with the press yesterday, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, said, “There were two vehicles involved in the accident – a trailer, with number plate, LSR 615 XB, and a tricycle, with number plate, GGE 393 QC.”

Queen’s College Lagos (a popular all girls secondary school in Yaba) has been trending online now for some days now for all the wrong reasons! It all started when a mum wrote in to Laila’s Blog, alleging that a teacher,  Osifiala Olaseni, sexually harassed her daughter.

I would like to report the management of Queen’s College Yaba. As I write, the principal and vice principals have, over a month now, deliberately suppressed several complaints of sexual harassment which my daughter and some other students have consistently reported to their class teacher, their year head, the head of department of the accused teacher and the principal’s office. My daughter is in JSS2, second term at Queen’s College. During their visiting day in first term she complained to me that there is an Integrated Science teacher, Mr O- who has been harrassing her and some other students. I asked her if the man had touched her and she said no, he only tells them that they are looking beautiful and he wants to marry them. I dismissed her complaints as typical compliments from a teacher.

A 28-year-old Togolese, Isah Lamin, who was badly burnt after she was doused with petrol by her boyfriend, Bakare Kabiru, during an argument, has died in the hospital, five days after the incident occurred at Alakia area of Ibadan, Oyo state.

A friend of Kabiru, one Ahmed Muyideen also got badly burnt as he was caught in the fire while trying to pull Lamin up from where she was pushed by her lover during the argument.

Crime Reports learnt that the Togolese, a single mother of two, started dating Kabiru, a tipper driver sometimes in 2015, though the suspect was married and had three children from a former wife.

Adeyinka Okin of 34, The Close, Kill St Laurence, Waterford, pleaded guilty to 20 count charge of theft relating to social welfare payments.

Peter and Paul Okoye seem to have settled their differences and resolved to sing together albeit with different managements. However Peter Okoye  had granted an exclusive interview to the NetNG  on Thursday March 17 about the genesis of the problems within Psquare, Jude Okoye and their wives. THE GENESIS OF THE ISSUE:

The issue was the fact that I was in Psquare and it felt like I was in fear. If I don’t do this, Psquare will break-up, if I don’t do that, Psquare will scatter.’Four years ago, I told Jude that he needs to step down as our manager, because I didn’t want to disrespect him as a brother, but this is business, we have to structure it. And Jude said to me that there’s a way I’ll talk to him, and he’ll slap me. So I kept quiet’. 

‘So, a few hours after, Paul came to me and said if I want Jude to step down it’s not a problem, but it’ll mean that he (Paul) will go solo. The the first time word got out about Psquare breaking up, a lot of people called us, senators, governors, and people like that. In fact three of us were once in a private jet to go and see someone who wanted to resolve our issues and we didn’t speak to each other all through the flight. At the end of the day, I swallowed my pride for peace to reign and allowed Jude to remain as our manager’.

Hulk Hogan Wins Sex Tape Lawsuit Against Gawker, Gets Awarded $115Million In Damages

A Florida jury sided with wrestler Hulk Hogan Friday in his sex tape lawsuit against Gawker Media, and awarded him $115 million for invasion of privacy. Gawker is appealing the ruling.

The celebrity wrestler, whose legal name is Terry Bollea, filed suit accusing the website of invading his privacy when it published a portion of a video showing him having sex with the wife of a former friend, along with 1,400 words describing the video.

Bollea, 62, sought $100 million in damages from Gawker. He was awarded $55 million in economic injuries and $60 million for emotional distress, Reuters reports. The jury returns on Monday to consider punitive damages.
