The jinx of Grand Paradi Towers, Mumbai, India

The three 28-storeyed pista green-and-white towers stand out prominently in South Mumbai, India. But behind the façade of one of the city's swankiest residential addresses lies a sordid saga of suicides. What is it about Grand Paradi that prompts many of its residents to jump to their death? It is said to be the most famous haunted Mumbai house is situated in one of the city’s hot spot area.

The eighth floor of the Grand Paradi Towers in Kemps Corner, a series of freakish suicides drew attention to what appeared to be a gruesome pattern of deaths and accidents in the building. In 2004 an elderly couple jumped out of the window of this apartment. Their children and their grandchild followed suit within the year.“Things that make it unacceptable to our rational minds that a whole family, three generations, living in one house should commit suicide in the same way," a told by a resident who has lived in the building for 30 years. "There have been up to 20 fatal accidents and suicides since the building was constructed in 1976. Many involving children and even a maid who either jumped or fell out of a window."

The reasons of the suicides have been far and many. Mostly related to financial debacles, the building has also witnessed suicides due to failed relationships and trauma. What most can't figure out is the fact that why does so many suicides happen from the towers at such an alarming rate in the first place? What drives these people to take such drastic steps? Well! No one has found an answer to that yet. However with suicides came a spate of hauntings of the departed souls. Screams, random knocks at the doors and running footsteps are all too common in the towers at night. One of the cornet flats called 'Kemp's Corner Flat' hasremained vacant since 1979. Whatever be the reasons the 'Grand Paradi Towers' of South Mumbai are quoted by many as the most haunted located in the entire Mumbai city.

After the series of unfortunate events the building society began to believe that paranormal forces were at work. After the suicides of the family the building society decided to do a puja and a havan (prayer ceremonies) and since then everything has stopped but the flat still remains unoccupied since then.
