Friday morning, Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club host, Charlamagne Tha God, played anembarrassing audio clip of Mayweather struggling to read a “drop” used in between radio segments for the radio stations “Show Your Stripes” initiative.

However, Mayweather did not always have it so easy.
Growing up in Grand Rapids, Mich., his mother was battling with drug addiction while his father was serving time for drugs. As a result, Mayweather dropped out of high school to pursue boxing.
“I knew that I was going to have to try to take care of my mom and I made the decision that school wasn’t that important at the time and I was going to have to box to earn a living,” Mayweather told the Daily News in 2007.
Furthermore, roughly 36 million American adults need literacy help, according to the ProLiteracy advocacy group.
