A Colombian Woman Uses A Potato As A Contraceptive

You say "po-tay-to," she says "alternative form of contraception that would be a good idea to put in your vagina." But medical professionals report she had a potato germinating inside her, so it looks like you win.
A mother always knows best, right? Not in this case. A 22-year old Colombian woman was experiencing unusual abdominal pains and made her way to a local hospital. Slightly embarrassed, she admitted to nurses that she had done something outlandish. In an attempt to prevent pregnancy, she inserted a potato into her vagina.

‘My mum told me that if I didn’t want to get pregnant, I should put a potato up there, and I believed her,’ via Colombia Reports.

The nurse who examined the young woman had discovered the roots had visiblyemerged from her vagina. Fortunately, the potato was able to be removed non surgically. Doctors also confirmed that there would be no lasting damages to the women’s health. It’s safe to say a potato has never been on the list of acceptable contraceptive options, in case you thought it was, it can now officially be scratched off the list.
