UNLIKE POLICE, MILITARY RECOGNISES TAMBUWAL AS SPEAKER

The Nigerian armed forces today recognised the All Progresssive Congress candidate for Sokoto state governorship election, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Daily Trust reports.

Deviating from the Nigeria Police stand of not recognising Tambuwal, the armed forces duly recognised Tambuwal at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja today where President Goodluck Jonathan launched the emblem for the 2015 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba had withdrawn Tambuwal’s security details on October 48 hours after he defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Daily Trust reports that the programme for the emblem launch on Monday addressed Tambuwal as the speaker of the House of Representatives with the speaker’s photograph.
The event is tagged “Appreciating the Nigerian Armed Forces.
It will be recalled that Abba refused to recognise Tambuwal as speaker on November 26 when the House Committee on Police Matters summoned him to explain why some of his men blocked Tambuwal and other lawmakers from gaining access into the parliament building and later tear-gassed them.
