4-Year-Old Child Killed After Getting Stuck In Escalator Tt China Train Station

A young child lost his life after he was caught in an escalator at a train station in Chongqing on Thursday, Oct 8.
The incident occurred at about 11am. The child, a four-year-old boy, had been playing near an escalator when he got stuck between the escalator's handrail and the ground, Chinese news portal NetEase reported.

According to online reports, personnel at the station responded immediately by stopping the escalator service to try and save the boy.
Workers managed to remove the boy's body from under the escalator and he was quickly rushed to a local hospital.
However, it was too late and the boy died along the way. A paramedic was quoted in news website Sohu News as saying that by the time the boy reached the hospital, he no longer had a heartbeat.
The incident is the latest in a string of escalator mishaps in China over the past few months.
Escalator safety in China was first thrust into the spotlight after a horrific incident in which a 30-year-old woman died after she fell through a loose floor panel at a department store in Hubei.
She managed to thrust her son to safety but was "swallowed" by the escalator machinery.
Just two days later, a one-year-old boy's left arm was mangled after getting stuck in the stairs of an escalator.
In August, a cleaner's leg had to be amputated after it got stuck in an escalator at a Shanghai shopping mall.
