Over Speeding, Refusal To Use Seat Belts, Caused Ocholi, Wife, Son’s Death - FRSC

Boboye Oyeyemi, a Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), while presenting the accident’s Road Traffic Crash Investigation Interim Report to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari said the death of the late Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi has been majorly attributed to over speeding.

Boboye also noted that late Ocholi’s driver, who passed away at the hospital was also operating without a license.

He also said that investigations revealed that the impact of the accident was more on Ocholi and his family members who were seated at the rear seats without using seat belts.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday presented its interim report of the investigation into the fatal crash which claimed the lives of the minister of state for Labour and Employment, Mr James Ocholi, his wife, Blessing and son, Joshua along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday.

While presenting the investigation report to the Federal Executive Council at a meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi identified over-speeding as the cause of the ghastly accident.

Oyeyemi also stated that Ocholi’s driver had no driver’s license as his name was not found on the database of FRSC.

Vanguard reports that President Buhari and select ministers paid glowing tributes to the late minister just as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal said Ocholi’s burial may hold between 16th and 18th of March, 2016.
President Buhari is expected to lead other members of the FEC on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased senior lawyer and labour minister later on Wednesday.
