Nigerian Asylum Seeker Beaten To Death By Italian Football Fan

A 36-year-old Nigerian asylum seeker has become one more victim in the migration crisis. “Emmanuel Chidi Namdi”: died after being beaten up outside the Italian refuge where he’d been staying.

Namdi who had fled the violence of extremists Boko Haram was attacked on Tuesday by a football ultra who had first insulted his wife.

According to the police, the unnamed football fan had first insulted Chinyere, calling her an ”African monkey,” which made her husband try to defend her, an act which resulted in his death. Nnamdi had reportedly been beaten with a pole which his assailant pulled out from a road sign nearby.

According to the priest at the local Catholic mission where some asylum seekers like Nnamdi and his wife were staying, the 40-year-old football fan was a very notorious racist in the town. Here’s what an anonymous source said: 

“A few asylum seekers were hosted at the local Catholic mission, and apparently that town and that area is not new to episodes of intolerance and racism. The guy who is allegedly responsible is notorious in town for his racist views. According to the local priest who hosts the refugees, he calls every African a monkey. It is shameful that this has happened in my country.”
