21-year-old Forence Owiti Opiyo’s rare medical condition started out as a small boil or cyst at the age of 10. In an interview, Opiyo said it grew into the size of a fist and continued to get bigger and bigger. While doctors admitted to never seeing a condition like Opiyo’s, they were left baffled and unable to find the cause for the growth. The man’s genitals grew 10x’s the average size, making it nearly impossible for him to walk or even wear clothes.
Moreover, Opiyo was forced to drop out of school and live like a recluse. He then turned to herbal medicines in hopes of curing his condition.
In 2007, he underwent surgery to remove the growth. However, it grew back as he was dubbed the man with the biggest genitals.
Opiyo then took a job mending shoes in an effort to save money to pay for surgery. Not making very much, his goal was out of reach as he started to lose sight of ever having surgery.
Desperate for a solution, Opiyo’s neighbor took pictures of his genitals and posted them to his Facebook page along with a plea for help. Within three days, Our Lady of Mercy Ranguma answered their plea.
Following the phone call, an ambulance arrived at the man’s village and transported him to the medical center. Forence underwent two surgeries at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
First, doctors removed the penis as well as the excess testicle mass. Next, the doctors reconstructed his penis and testicles into the average shape and size.
Opiyo’s surgery was successful. Furthermore, doctors believe that he will be able to have sex and eventually have kids.
