Building Collapse In Ebute Metta, Many Trapped In Rubble ...

Many residents were trapped as a building collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State on Friday.

It was gathered that the building is situated opposite the Health Centre Ebute Metta along Cemetery Street.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident.

He, however, did not disclose whether any casualty was recorded as of the time of filing this report.

“Our personnel are on the ground at the scene and rescue operation is ongoing,” Okunbor briskly said when contacted by our correspondent.

The agency received a distress call at about 1.10pm. Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a three-storey building collapsed with an as yet undetermined cause.

Agency Responders, LRU Ambulance unit, Lasambus, LABSCA, Material Testing Agency, LASG fire service, Police, IKEDC are joint responders at the scene of the incident.

Search, Rescue And Recovery operations carried out and an adult female (approximately 30 years) has been rescued from the rubble using the agency’s DELSA equipment. The victim has been transferred to hospital.

The area has been cordoned off, adjacent buildings are being checked for any damage.
