 Almost half a century ago, the world’s first heart transplant was performed in South Africa in 1967. The following year, Australia’s first heart transplant was performed by Dr Harry Windsor at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. 

According to the Heart Foundation, the procedure usually takes between three and six hours, and will be one of two types of transplant operations. An orthotopic heart transplant is the most common type (as seen above), and this involves removing the diseased heart from the body through an incision made in the middle of the chest. A donor heart is then placed inside.

Internationally acclaimed faith leader Dr. Myles Munroe, 60, founder and senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries, and his wife Ruth Monroe, married for 35 years, were killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas on Sunday afternoon, reports Tribune242.com.

Nine people were aboard the ill-fated flight (pictured below). It has been confirmed that Bahamas Faith Ministries senior vice president and pastor, Richard Pinder was among those killed in the crash .The other victims have not been identified. One of the victims is reportedly Dr. and Mrs. Munroe’s daughter but that has not yet been confirmed.

Man Arrested With Cocaine Concealed In Women Shoes

Officials of the National Draw Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a passenger at the Lagos airport for allegedly concealing cocaine in female shoes.

The drug was detected in the luggage compartment of an Etihad flight‎ from Brazil to Nigeria.

Catholic Priest Sentenced To Death For Murder Of Italian Bishop

A Kenyan Catholic priest and four others have been sentenced to death on Thursday by a Nairobi court for the murder of an elderly Italian bishop which occurred almost a decade ago.

"Catholic priest Guyo Waqo and four others have been sentenced to death for the murder of Isiolo Bishop Luigi Locati," Kenya's Public Prosecutions office said in a statement.

Prosecutors say the convicted men shot and killed a 77-year-old Luigi Locati in July 2005 after a fight over money donated to the Isiolo diocese in central Kenya.
