Store owner confirmed as $16M lottery winner

Myungsu You, Hamilton's latest lotto winner, picks up his cheque in Toronto.

Convenience store owner Myungsu You is now officially a multimillionaire.
The Hamilton man picked up his $16.1-million Lotto 6/49 cheque in Toronto Friday afternoon, and with the big prize finally in his hands, he said he is now “dreaming about lots of nice things.”
He’s had plenty of time to dream — he alerted the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. of his win on Dec. 5 but an investigation had to be done before his prize was cleared.
You purchased the winning ticket at the Metro grocery store on Barton Street East, but because his Cumberland Avenue store is also a lottery ticket outlet, it was considered an “insider win.”
“I was very shocked when I discovered that I was a winner. I was very surprised! I was thinking, ‘What’s happening?’” You, 56, told the OLG.
You has been a Hamilton resident for 12 years.

While the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. conducted its investigation, another Hamiltonian also collected a big win.
Hamilton's Penniless Millionaire

West Mountain resident Gayle Zolaturiuk cashed in her $30-million Lotto 6/49 cheque on March 8. Zolaturiuk told the Spectator that she had plans to go somewhere hot and far away — and will never have to take the bus again.
You, too, now has plans to relax. He recently sold his business and is going to take a break.
“Convenience store owners work very hard! I am going to take some time off and then look for something else to do,” the new millionaire said.
