Samsung Raises Smartphone Rivalry With Galaxy A5, A3

Nigerian smartphone market is in for heightened rivalry in 2015 with the introduction of Galaxy A5 and A3 handsets by Samsung Electronics West Africa (SEWA). The ‘A Series’ of devices aims to consolidate on the gains of the ‘S Series’ which have dominated the phone market in the last few years according to the company.
They are the first in the series of these new devices and come in a variety of colours such as black, white, platinum silver, soft pink, champagne gold among others. The two new devices are Samsung’s slimmest smart phones to date and they incorporate the Galaxy Alpha’s premium metal design with unique refined, full metal, unibody designs.
Mr. Emmanouil Revmatas, director of information technology and mobile, Samsung Electronics West Africa speaking at the unveiling in Lagos last week said both devices feature removable back covers. “Most of the all-metal smart phones from other manufacturers do not feature removable back covers – this is one of Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 ‘s biggest strengths. The two hybrid SIM slots enable users decide between the option of two SIMS or alternating the second slot for memory expansion with a micro SD card”, he said.
He added that the two handsets carry on Samsung’s legacy for high-performing cameras with an advanced camera system that generates brighter and clearer images. The 13MP rear shooter of A5 is quite good, and so is the A3’s 8MP camera. The front-facing 5MP selfie cam will simply blow your mind. These phones do a fantastic job of capturing the scene in a wide angle.
“Samsung’s selfie panorama worked like a charm, and captures at least five people in the frame with room for one more. Both Galaxy A3 and A5 offer superior mobile and social experience for young consumers who want to express their unique style while constantly staying connected.
“Innovative photo-taking features, such as wide selfie, palm selfie, animated GIF, beauty face features, and rear-cam selfie lets users capture attractive selfies in high resolution by automatically detecting and focusing on a person’s face. Users are also able to quickly and easily share photos or videos on their favorite social media channels with the devices’ fast network speed of LTE Category 4 standard,” he said.
Revmatas said the two new devices come with are equipped with an extraordinary super AMOLED display and Adaptive Display technology to deliver clearer images with deep contrast and better viewing angles for more vivid, colourful content in virtually any environment
