Darrick Guider, 39, allegedly raped and impregnated a 10-year-old girl.
Guider has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12, WITI reported.
In June 2014, the girl, who has not been named, moved into a relative’s home in Milwaukee. Guider lived in the home.
The girl told police that “one night, shortly after she moved into this home, she was watching television upstairs in a room. She was lying on the bed when the defendant came in. The defendant told her that ‘this is how (you) make money.’” The girl tried to “get her (relative’s) attention by screaming, but the defendant put his hand over her mouth.”
Guider then reportedly raped her.
Before the incident, the victim told her relative that Guider had attempted to have sex with her several times, but the relative did not believe her.
In January, the girl was taken to a pediatrician, who referred her to Children’s Hospital. The relative decided not to take her to the hospital.
In March, another family member noticed that the girl looked pregnant. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where physicians confirmed she was pregnant and due “at the end of May or the beginning of June.”
Guider faces up to 60 years behind bars.
