Police Finally Arrest Man Believed To Have Killed His Nigerian Wife In The U.S

Obiamaka Aduba, 26, was allegedly strangled by her husband, Anthony Lopez, 31, who police believe wheeled her lifeless body down a Mariners Harbor street on a metal dolly on Friday. He was allegedly seen rolling the body along 42 Post Lane on Staten Island at 7.10am, on Friday.
When Lopez was questioned by a plain clothed detective he abandoned the body. The topless body of Aduba, was wrapped in a sheet and had bruising on her body, but it wasn’t immediately clear if the marks had anything to do with her death. The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The detective said he recognized Lopez because he had arrested him before. He has an extensive criminal history involving 52 previous arrests for drugs, grand larceny and criminal contempt. His wife had been arrested 19 times. Neighbors said they were familiar with the couple who they claimed had a tumultuous relationship.
When arraigned in Richmond County Supreme Court on Sunday, Lopez pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. Published reports say Lopez beat Aduba in the past and had her work as a prostitute. Her mother tried to help her, reports say, to no avail. Lopez was apprehended on Saturday, following a manhunt using helicopters and dogs. He had shaved his head to disguise his appearance.
