FRSC
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said it will begin asking drivers in Lagos State to show their driving licenses.

The Lagos State Sector Commander of FRSC, Hyginus Omeje, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, terming the exercise “Operation Show Your Driving License.”

He went on to say that drivers without a license will be fined ₦10,000, and those who are unable to produce their licenses within 24 hours will have their vehicles impounded.

The FRSC state sector commander said,
“We are embarking on this assignment so that motorists will come to our office to collect their driving’ licenses.

“We have no backlog of new driving licenses in Lagos State.
“There are 56,767 licenses yet to be collected by their owners.
“We have sent SMS to their owners that their licenses are ready for collection but they ignored responding to our messages.”

Omeje went further to say that drivers who can’t produce their licenses after 24 hours will be assumed as not licensed to drive. He said that the Corps’ interest does not lie in the collection of fines or the deprivation of drivers’ movement. He further advised motorists to do the right thing and be safety conscious.
