An accident between a truck and a fully loaded fuel tanker that would have lead to a deadly fire outbreak in Lagos yesterday was averted by the LASEMA Response Unit Fire & Rescue team yesterday.

A 112 call was made by 1:15pm and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit’s fire trucks were deployed at 1:17pm to the scene.

On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that there was an accident involving a Tanker with registration number KTU 160XM laden with gas products and a Truck with unknown registration number loaded with 44,000 litres of PMS.

Further investigations revealed that the gas truck broke down due to a mechanical fault while the truck conveying PMS had a brake failure and rammed into the gas tanker from behind.
Fortunately, no life was lost. No serious casualty was recorded.
