Nigerians are truly making their mark across the world. Martha Osamor, a British-Nigerian woman, has become the first Nigerian to become a baroness in the United Kingdom. The woman is the first Nigerian to join the House of Lords.
The woman was introduced to the House of Lords on Tuesday, December 4. She was nominated for the peerage by Jeremy Corbyn, a British politician and the serving leader of the Labour Party.
According to BBC, Martha who was the former Labour councillor has now become Baroness Osamor of Tottenham in the London Borough of Haringey and of Asaba in the Republic of Nigeria.
‘Asaba in the Republic of Nigeria’, must have been included due to the fact that Martha hails from Delta state.
It was gathered that Corbyn had nominated Osamor since May 2018, and Queen Elizabeth II had given her the title on Monday, November 26.

Martha Osamor is a community activist and civil rights campaigner who moved to the United Kingdom in 1963. She had moved to join her husband who was schooling in London.
The couple settled down in Tottenham where they conceived four children, unfortunately, her husband passed away in 1975.
