Thugs Invasion: Nigerian Police Recover Senate's Stolen Mace.

The Nigerian Police has recovered the Senate’s stolen Mace at a flyover before the Abuja City Gate, where according to ASP Aremu Adeniran, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters a patriotic passer-by saw it and alerted the Police.

This came as the IGP has ordered the Commissioner of Police FCT Command to beef-up security at the National Assembly.

According to a statement by the Police on Thursday morning the Mace was recovered by the ‘Police teams who engaged in massive raids of identified criminal spots/flashpoints, stop and search operations, visibility and confidence-building patrols, intelligence gathering which forced the suspected miscreants to abandon the Mace at a point under the flyover before the City Gate, where a patriotic passer-by saw it and alerted the Police.’

Snatching Of Mace: PDP Reacts, Indicts Security Agents, APC Govt

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday condemned the invasion of the National Assembly and the seizure of the Senate mace.

DAILY POST reports that thugs suspected to be loyal to the suspended Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Ovie Omo-Agege had invaded the red chambers and forcefully took away the mace.

Reacting to the situation, spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan described the seizure of the mace as a “direct assault on the legislature and bold attempt to truncate Nigeria’s democracy.”

Contrary to reports that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was arrested after allegedly leading thugs into the Senate chambers to snatch the mace, the Police said the lawmaker was merely escorted out of the National Assembly complex.

According to a report by NAN, Omo-Agege was arrested at about 2:00 PM outside the National Assembly building. A source in the National Assembly told our correspondent that the suspended senator has been led away by the Police.

However at the time of this report, it is still unclear if the mace that was snatched had been recovered, but the lawmakers had resumed plenary with a spare mace.

A man was yesterday morning stabbed to death by one of his wives while trying to separate their fight at their home in Dirdeu, Adamawa State.

According to Abdulrahman Njidda Yebb, who was a witness, Adamu Dewa was stabbed by his first wife of 20 years, Hauwa.

Two Nigerians Jailed For Presenting Fake Documents To US Embassy

A court in Lagos state has jailed two Nigerian visa applicants after it was discovered that they presented fake documents to the US Embassy. 

Two visa applicants, Olusola Alabi and Balogun Teslim, have been sentenced to two years in prison for presenting fake documents to the United States embassy, according to a report by Punch.

The two were arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission before Justice Mojishola Dada of a Lagos State High Court, accusing them of violating Section 25(1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

Lagos Blue Line Rail 95 % Completed, Says Commissioner

Mrs. Bush served as the country's first lady from 1989 to 1993. She passed away shortly after deciding to forgo further medical treatments for her failing health. Having been hospitalized numerous times while battling congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, she decided Sunday that she wanted to be "surrounded by a family she adores," according to an earlier statement released by Mr. Bush's office.

"It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself -- thanks to her abiding faith -- but for others," the statement continued. "She is surrounded by a family she adores and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving." In January 2017, Mrs. Bush and her husband were hospitalized at the same time. She was being treated for bronchitis and the nation's 41st president was being treated for pneumonia.

Samsung Galaxy S9 And S9 Plus Review: Excellent, Not Monumental

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's start with what's new. This year's updates revolve around the cameras. The S9 and S9+ are by and large the same phone, barring size, memory and the fact that the Plus has two rear cameras while the regular S9 just has one. The S9+ (which I spent the bulk of my time with) is also the first Galaxy S phone to sport a pair of cameras on its back, which adds features like Live Focus and Dual Capture.

The setup here is basically the same as on the Note 8, with a wide-angle primary camera and a telephoto partner for close-ups. The regular S9 doesn't have this hardware, but it can still add artificial depth of field to your shots via Samsung's Selective Focus software, which isn't a shabby alternative. The difference between portraits shot with the two isn't big enough that you should shell out for the Plus just for the camera. You're really just missing the Dual Capture tool (which snaps both wide-angle and close-up shots simultaneously) and the ability to frame your shots more tightly with the telephoto lens.

LASEMA Averts Deadly Fire Outbreak Between A Tanker Laden With Gas Products And A Truck Loaded With 44,000 Litres Of PMS In Lagos

An accident between a truck and a fully loaded fuel tanker that would have lead to a deadly fire outbreak in Lagos yesterday was averted by the LASEMA Response Unit Fire & Rescue team yesterday.

A 112 call was made by 1:15pm and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit’s fire trucks were deployed at 1:17pm to the scene.

On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that there was an accident involving a Tanker with registration number KTU 160XM laden with gas products and a Truck with unknown registration number loaded with 44,000 litres of PMS.
