Nepotism In Nigeria Immigration Exposed, Minister Wants Only Kinsmen At Top Posts

A document detailing the current recruitment, promotion and posting scandals rocking the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has revealed that the Minister for Interior, Mr. Abbah Moro prefers officers from Benue State at top positions.
A source hinted Pointblanknews.com that a letter dated November 2012, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Daniel Nwaobia on the directive of the Minister, reverted earlier postings and promotions made by the sacked Immigration boss, Mrs. Rose Chinyere Uzoma.
According to the source, the Minister had earlier insisted on seeing list of promotions, Postings and recruitments in the Immigrations Service before they are carried out but the former NIS Boss had wondered how a politician would meddle into affairs of an area that requires professional knowledge.

“Madam did not want to subject operational affairs of Immigration to politicians and she decided to do what was best for the immigration but the Minister insisted that his list of promotion, posting and recruitment be followed. I guess that was the crux of the problem that led to her removal,” a top Immigration officer told pointblanknews.com.
The minister had in the letter to the Controller General Immigration, CGI, dated November 28, 2012 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, said: “I write to refer to your letters Ref. Nos. NIS/SHQ/CGIS/037/1 and NIS/SHQ/CGIS/037 dated 24th September, 2nd and 26th November, 2012, respectively, on the above subject and convey approved posting of officers by the Honourable Minister as per the attached list. The posting is to be implemented with immediate effect. You are to revert back on the status of implementation of the approved posting.”
Soon after the directive was ignored by the CGI, the Minister was said to have on his own effected the promotion and posting of officers in Immigration favoring Benue officers in the Service.
The officers are: Denen Akka, Deputy Comptroller General, Planning Research and Statistics; two Assistant Comptrollers General in the persons of Anthony Ogiri Okolobia, in charge Zone A, Lagos and Ogbenjuwa Ada Godwin, Visa/Entry P Div.(SHQ).
Others are: Idu Adah Bartholomew, 4021, CIS in charge of Kwara Command; Igoche Ogwuji Samuel, 3481, CIS in charge of Cross River Command; Ogbu Adadu Esa Juluis, 9771, CIS in charge of Seme Command; Gbuga Emmanuel Aondoaka, 7992, CIS in charge of Akwa Ibom Command; and Abin Faga Micheal, CIS Ebony Command.”

Other Comptrollers are Akatu Innocent, 9842, Deputy Comptroller Immigration (DCI) in charge of Passport Office, Benin; Oche William Igoche, 5626, DCI, Passport Office Festac; and Eche D.A., 6599 Assistant Comptroller Immigration in charge of Passport Office, Benue.
