Govs, Others Plan Getaway Ahead May 29

IF feelers from the official circle are correct, governors serving out their final term may be planning a long future outside the country to avoid being caught in post-election official vendetta.
Saturday Tribune gathered that regardless of the outcome of the February 14 presidential election, certain outgoing governors who have worked themselves into the bad blood of the election would just have to be out of the country to have a restful future.

It was learnt that the general thinking among the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors was that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), is likely to use them as anti-corruption scapegoats if he is elected president by railroading them into prison to prove PDP is corrupt.
His antecedent of hunting perceived enemies is also said to have informed the decision to berth in nations without extradition treaty with Nigeria.
While it is almost impossible to order their kidnap the Umaru Dikko way, it is being reasoned that he might use the extradition treaty with countries like the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, among others, to bring them back to Nigeria and humiliate them.
Quiet Islands  abroad without extradition treaty with Nigeria are reportedly being targeted by those involved in the move.
Those planning to move from the government house to the Senate among the outgoing governors are also said not to be exempted from the move as their attention is reportedly focused on the presidential election rather than theirs that will take place the same day.
However, it was gathered that there will still be get-away, though on lower scale, if President Goodluck Jonathan is re-elected.
A couple of outgoing governors who really got personal with him during the campaign and the PDP crisis may not want to wait for the James Ibori treatment before seeking a safe haven.
Despite not generally seen as vindictive, Jonathan has shown with a couple of political fights that he could be ruthless.
The presidency also recently warned an outgoing governor he would pay for his perceived misdeeds after May 29.
Apart from the governors, some other top players in the polity who have displayed deep partisanship are also said to be considering the move, in their own case, if Buhari wins.
