Ovation Editor, Michael Effiong Buries Mother In Grand Style


Prominent Dignataries Storm Ibesikpo Asutan In Akwa Ibom, As Princess Affiong Gregory James Goes Home in Style

Friends and family of the Editor of Ovation International Magazine, Mike Effiong James and his other siblings came from all across the world to Ibesikpo Asuntan local government area of Akwa Ibom State to register their love and support for the James family as their matriarch, Princess Affiong Gregory James was laid to rest in Akwa Ibom.




Expectedly, the burial turned out to be a grand affair given Effiong’s wide-reaching influence and popularity among his colleagues in the media circle and the social circuit that turned out in their numbers to show love to the James’ family.
The burial ceremonies which took place at the residence of the matriarch of the James’ family started with a funeral service with joyous hymnals and glorious testimonials about the late blue-blooded Princess who many family members and acquaintances affirmed was a woman of dignity and an epitome of hard work.

The service was conducted by Ministers from Church of Christ, Nung Oku Ibesikpo, after which the deceased was committed to earth in her residence amid emotional scenes.
Thereafter, a carnival-like atmosphere unfolded at the reception where guests were pampered endlessly till late into the night.

The event was graced by former Akwa Ibom State, Commissioner for Information, Mr Aniekan Umanah, NDDC Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Samuel Frank, city clothier and founder of Vivid Imagination, Godwin Mekwuneye, Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Media Group, Bashorun Dele Momodu, Publishers of Global Excellence and Encomium Mayor Akinpelu and Kunle Bakare, famed actor, Kunle Afolayan, top Singer, Muma Gee, Chairman/CEO Arum Group, Mr. Maurice Etim, Group CEO Nanet Hotels, Mr. Ini AKPABIO, CEO Sodium Brand Solutions, Mr Abisoye Fagade, Founder AWLO, Elisha Attai, CEO IDCL, Mr Kingsley James, CEO Dope TV, Mr Sola Fajobi, Sportscaster Mr Tony Obot, Secretary General, Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, Remi Aboderin, top photographer, Dayo Adedayo, Businessman, Paul J Peters, Communications Expert, Prince Adeyemi Aseperi, Financial Expert, Mr Olumide, Aseperi, President Rotary Clyb of Ikeja, Mr Niyi Adelaja as well as the members of Rotary South Club of Ikeja , led by their President , Rotarian Azuh Arinze.




Fondly called Eka Evans, Mrs. Affiong was born 70 years ago into the Royal family of Etim Akpan Ime. She was actively involved in philanthropy and Church activities in Church of Christ, Lawanson, Lagos and Nung Uko Ibesikpo, after relocation to Akwa Ibom.
Mrs. James is survived by her four sons, daughters –in-law, grandchildren and many relatives.
