Fleet Of Intelligent Buses And Uncompleted Projects Buhari Will Commission In Lagos Today (Photos)


It is no longer news that President Mohammadu Buhari will be in Lagos today to commission some projects.

Part of the projects that the President will commission include a fleet of buses that is an integral part of the Bus Reform Project of the Governor Ambode-led government.

These buses have the unique feature of Intelligent Transport System mechanism. This mass transit mechanism is intended to aid Lagosians in planning their journeys. This initiative will also make public transportation in the state globally competitive.


These buses are the first batch of  820 buses out of the 5000 buses being proposed for the bus Bus Reform Project.

“During the one-day working visit, a number of other State projects will be commissioned including the rehabilitated 10-lane Oshodi – Muritala Muhammed International Airport Road; the 170-Bed ‘Ayinke House’ (Maternity Hospital)) at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja; the Lagos State Theatre at Oregun, Ikeja; new 820 Mass Transit Buses and the multi-level Oshodi Transport Interchange along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.”

However, an investigation by The Guardian shows that two of the projects to be inaugurated by President Buhari during the working visit are yet to be completed contrary to the Lagos State Government’s announcement. 

First, the 10-lane Oshodi- Muritala Muhammed International Airport is not close to completion and far from being ready for public use.
