Ecobank Worker, Babatunde Oke Who Died In Police Custody Buried As Controversy Surrounds Autopsy.

According to Punch: Ecobank Nigeria Plc worker, Babatunde Oke, who died in the police custody, has been buried. He was laid to rest in his hometown in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on Saturday afternoon as the family vowed to unravel the cause of his death.

PUNCH Metro had reported on February 24, 2014 that Babatunde died after being detained at the Falomo Police Division over allegation of N1.2m theft. His employers had alleged that while he was the head teller at the bank’s Ladipo branch, Babatunde had stolen the sum from the Automated Teller Machine.

General Overseer of Tower of God Revival Ministry, Pastor Cletus Nzekwesiri Nwankwo and his wife are still recovering from the shock of being beaten almost to stupor by some other pastors in the Pentecostal church situated at Akwakuma in Owerri West Council Area of Imo State.

Trouble started for the couple when two members of the church brought a goat and a cow as thanksgiving offering. At the end of the service, Nwankwo questioned one of the youth leaders who was untying the cow tethered to a post, asking him where he was taking it.

At that moment, he alleged, three other pastors of the church, whose names he gave as Elvis Nwachuckwu, Ikechukwu Nwogu and Victor Joseph arrived on the scene and challenged him on why he should question where the cow was being taken.

Five young men are currently in trouble in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State. Their crime? They allegedly gang-raped a 17-year-old Senior Secondary 3 girl and posted pictures of the criminal act on the Internet

According to Daily Sun investigations, the boys, sometime in February this year, accosted the innocent girl, Ezema Ginika, in Ankpa when she was returning from an errand. She was allegedly hit with a ring suspected to have been charmed. She immediately fell unconscious, it was learnt.

The boys then took her to an uncompleted building where they turned her to a sex machine. Besides raping her in turns, two of the suspects also took photographs of the act.

The pictures were later circulated to friends through the internet while some were printed and circulated in the town

One Of The Women Killed In Deadly Immigration Job Screening Stampede In Port Harcourt Buried

The first of at least 20 people killed during a stampede at a Saturday job fair was buried on Monday. Her name is Lucy, one of at least ten people in Port-Harcourt center, who died during a nationwide Immigration job screening exercise that turned chaotic. She was buried by her family in her home town in Akwa-Ibom State, earlier today.

Lucy was one of many applicants, numbering in the hundreds, who appeared for screening at the Port-Harcourt center on Saturday. She reportedly gave up due to the density of crowd, who had surged forward and ran over scores of others, overwhelming the capacity of the center.

Lucy, a woman in her thirties, lived at "German Butcher", Elelenwo in Port-Harcourt. She was preparing to marry before the fateful incident took her life, family and close friends said.


At least ten other people died in Abuja on Saturday, during what witnesses said became a tense scene that led to hassles, and heated arguments among the applicants attending the Immigration job screening exercise.

Tragedy struck on Saturday which threw the nation into deep mourning as several Nigerians, whose total number is yet to be determined, died in parts of the country in the process of seeking employment with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

From Abuja to Minna in Niger State, from Port Harcourt in Rivers State to Benin City in Edo State, it was a tale of woes and lamentation as youthful Nigerians lost their lives in circumstances that are questionable.

While many were said to have died of suffocation, many reportedly died from tear gas released on them by security agents.

Indeed many who died were allegedly killed by gun totting security operatives.

It was indeed tears at the Abuja National Stadium as operatives laboured  to revive scores of applicants said to have been trampled upon in a stampede that occurred on Saturday morning at the media gate of the complex, venue of Abuja centre of the nationwide aptitude test for recruitment into the NIS.

Here’s a scheme that lends a whole new dimension to the traditional bathroom break.

Four Rikers Island inmates tried to escape from their solitary cells by ripping a porcelain toilet out of the floor and smashing it through the cinderblock walls of five cells inside the city jailhouse on Monday.

The inmates — Vernon Easley, Chris Martinez, Jeffrey Lashley and Naquan Febres — crawled through the holes and confronted an officer with the bricks from the wall, department records show.

The beleaguered officer ran off and called for backup, according to a Rikers superviser briefed on the incident.

“The inmates entered the dayroom and refused to exit,” an internal department report stated.
